    Default set up to D-Day

    Bonjour,

On last Saturday night, I played several DDay themed games with my son.

    First mission : Tactical reconnaissance

My son controls the Spitfire Mk IX to take pictures of the Harbour, suspected to be a German Shnellboots base. I'll try to counter him with a Fw 190.

The Spitfire avoid collision and decide to do is photo run from another direction.

    The FW performs an Immelman

The Spitfire turns to go toward the Harbour.

First mutual shooting, the spitfire pilot is wounded (no penalities apart the aircraft being destroyed if the pilot is wounded again)

Another Immelman for the FW while the spitfire considers doing is photo run coming from the continent.

The spifire Barely avoid the FW shooting range several times.

He's finaly shot at the beginning of his photo-run. then sevaral quite confuse moves ended with no posibility of shooting (FW is now at the 3rd Height)

The spitfire manage to escape, mission completed.

The pictures brought back by the spitfire shows that the harbour is a maintenance and repair base for the German schnellboots. Intelligence from the french resistance also indicate that the big building next to the train station is a torpedo and spare parts warehouse. A B-25 is sent to bomb that warehouse, escorted by my son flying a P-47. I'll try to shoot them down with a Me-109K.

The P-47 shoot at the Messerschmidt which is going fast toward the bomber.

To fast, no time to shoot ! I dive under the bomber.

And get shot by the belly turret.

    Immelman for the Me 109

    Immelman for the P-47

I won't be able to reach the Mitchell before it will release is bombs.

I shoot the P-47 wich couragously protects the bomber. The Mitchell release his bombs.

    Immelman for the P-47

Exchange of fire between the Me109 and the Bomber. The warehouse is hit and explode in a grat burst of flammes and rubbles.

New shooting, the B-25 is set on fire !

Defensive fire from the bomber, no fire damage this turn.

Fire damaged the controls of the bomber that is still defending against the messerschmidt.

I decide to fight against the escort fighter that is coming back.

    New shhot on the Bomber.

Mutual shooting with the escort that shot down my plane with a devastating burst.

Allied victory, objective destroyed, The bomber go back to his base with only 5 points out of 30, it will propably be sent to scrap.

    Third mission "Achtung Jabo!"

A bridge near the coastal town is used by the Germans to bring munitions to the Bunkers A lone P-51 mustang is sent to destroy it.
We're changing sides for that game, I'll control the mustang and my son we'll intercept me with a Me 109K.
High speed approach (too much speed...)

    I release my Bomb.

That fell to far and miss the target. Now I have to shoot that 109 down to save my day.

    Immelman for the Mustang.

    Same for the 109

After another Immelman, the Mustang open fire.

Then a serie of frontal attacks; too fast for both fighters to shoot (the Mustang is now 1 level higher than the 109).

I decide to change of tactics and start a sharp turn, we're now at the same height and my son is getting more and more exited to inflict me a "D" dammage.

    How disapointing, "D" dammage is a 0

Immelman for the Mustang and the poor Me109 is shot down

Results : Minor allied victory. (Target missed, me109 shot down).

Three great games and your son won 2 of them, Ouch,

Of course it does mean you taught him well.

Thanks for posting the series of games, I like the idea of the first one in particular.

Nice set of games there. I particularly liked the recon one where the Spitfire was saved I think by the zero chit draws. From what I have read those recon fighters were often sent unarmed to do their photography. A special kind of hero.
