Default BATTLE OF BRITAIN : DIVE AND HORIZONTAL BOMBING

Two WOG WW2 games at the game night organized by Totem store in Enghien-les-Bains (France).

First part : Initiation to dive-bombing with a Stuka for Spihurry, escorted by his young son on Bf.109.
Defense of the objective by Monse on Spitfire.

1- Short range shot of the Bf.109 on the Spitfire (2 points of damage) which misses its shot against the Stuka.

2- The Stuka suffers 8 points of damage and returns fire with its rear gunner on the Spitfire (1 point).

3- New mutual fire between the two-seater (1 pt) and the English fighter (0 pt).

4- Return of the Bf.109, moved away by an Immelmann.
In the a blind spot of the Stuka which cannot shoot, the Spitfire carried out a Descent then profits from the bonus of aiming for consecutive shooting, not having undergone a point of damage with the preceding turn.
The Stuka suffers two Smoke damages (exceptionally, it is decided not to turn it into Fire, to be sure to prolong the game).

5- The Stuka performs two consecutive vertical dives and drops its bombs. Partial destruction of the target whose central point is not covered by the base of the plane.

6- Immelmann of the Spitfire (1 pt) which is aimed by the rear gunner of the Stuka.
The Bf.109 keeps away from the Englishman.

7- Masterful programming of Spihury: the Stuka carries out a vertical dive (obligatorily followed by a non-difficult maneuver at high speed, if no second vertical dive) to lose a level of altitude and to find itself at attitude 1, escaping the Spitfire at altitude 3.

8- Descent of the Spitfire (1 pt) at altitude 2, targeted by the Stuka's rear gunner.

9- Several overlaps at different altitudes prevented the shooting.

10- The Stuka returns to its camp while the Spitfire leaves the game area, because of a high speed maneuver.

Aftermath : German victory, with a partially damaged target and a British fighter eliminated.

Very nimble flying by the Stuka to make his bomb drop and make it back home. Well done by that pilot!

Nice little action Simon, the Me109 needs to sharpen up but the Stuka didn't seem to need it's help..

Your son was very efficient on the second game :

Initiation to horizontal bombing with a Dornier Do.17 for Spihurry, escorted by his young son on Bf.109.
Defense of the objective by Monse on Hurricane.
(prior training including the evaluation of the distance to the objective to drop the bombs at the right time).

1- The Bf.109 precedes the bomber to protect it but the exchange of fire with the Hurricane is without consequence.

2- Mutual fire between the Hurricane (2 points of damage) and 2 front gunners of the Do.17 (4 pts).
The bomber announces the release of the bombs for the next turn from altitude 3.

3- Immelmann of the Hurricane (2 pts + wounded pilot) who exchanges a shot with a rear gunner of the Do.17 (1 pt).

4- New shot from the rear gunner of the Do.17 (3 pts) who benefits from the aiming bonus and retaliation from the Hurricane (5 pts + rudder hit) without aiming bonus because he suffered damage points in the previous turn (rule not applying to multi-engine aircraft).
Immelmann of the Bf.109 who makes a devastating shot on the English fighter (8pts) which is eliminated.
After 2 phases of movement, the bombs fall on the objective which is also eliminated.

Another German victory, the escort played its role perfectly in this high-risk mission for the lonely British fighter.

Simon I think you need to make a model parachute because you seem to get shot down quite a lot.

Another short, quick and interesting game. Thanks for adding it.

Spihurry did a good job with the high altitude bombing. I always find that quite challenging, although not as challenging as landing on a short runway.

    Cheers

I'd read the first 2 games but missed the final game and the concluding score, so you've now been shot down 5 times in 5 games. You must be fighting some very good or very lucky airmen - that can be the only sensible conclusion.

You definitely need a parachute. I wondered if cutting a ping pong ball in half and gluing a few pieces of cotton thread to it would work.

Hope you have better luck in your next game.
    Cheers
