Default i'm a poor little lamb who's lost his way

"Listen up chaps". Giles Osbourne, C.O. waited as the room quietened. We're going to escort a couple of "Harry's" on a bombing mission of a railroad junction, well behind enemy territory. David (Rimmington) you take John (Simmons) and Sean (Thomas). Provide top cover and come home. Wather's clear at the moment but we're expecting low clud and rain later this afternoon but you should be back well before then"

The RE.8s had done their job well and they all turned for home. Light Flak, no sign of enemy aircraft. - then the clouds and the rain came, early. So much for the Met wallahs.

For what seemed forever he flew through the clouds, slowly dropping altitude to about 4,000 feet, when he suddenly came out at the bottom of the cloud - All on his own!!!

    "Where are the others?"

He was still over the wrong side of the lines but heading in the right direction. Then in the distance he saw two ominous shapes heading towards him.

Karl Hertz and Theodore Kronitz, flying Dr.1s were surprised to see the Camel drop out of the clouds, but instantly went into Combat mode.

The three planes flew swiftly towards each other, with Remmington and Hertz firing at each other but no damage caused, only for a split second later a crunching sound indicated they had collided with each other, again with no damage caused, although Hertz seemed to lose his sense of direction and flew off (that's the Solo charts for you) Meanwhile Rahn flew in front of Remmington's sights, so Remmington let him have some (2) He was in a good position on Rahn's tail and looking round the other Fokker was a few miles away. He could have left the fight and gone home but he was in a good position, the other Fokker was in the distance, so 1 - 1, keep fighting. This decision would be the end of Rahn - 4, then 3,1 +1, then 2, 1 + 1, + LRJ and GJ. The plane plummeted from the sky. Suddenly the sound of machine gun fire and bullets zipping past his ears, burying themselves into the engine - 3 +Engine Damage.

Now he decided was the best time to go home but with a damaged engine he felt a sitting duck. Surprisingly nothing happened. "Where did the Hun go?" (Solo sent him off the table.

He finally got back to the airfield, his engine sounding rougher than he'd ever heard an engine sound before.

    Then the Sun came out.

This idea came from a previous 1 - 1 solo I did the day before. After a Collision (another one) 6 + pilot injury, pilot ran for home.

The single plane needs to cross two mats. It is set up anywhere along the far edge of the mat. The other planes are set up anywhere on the other mat. This mission can be flown with endless variations on the theme - 1 v 3 or more, depends on how sadistic you want to be, altitude. Can use any era planes, this was a Camel v 2 Dr.Is

Hope you have fun with this scenario. I did

Nice one Iain, good story with no pictures means it's a good story

I did something similar when I first started playing. Bombers should have destroyed 2 bridges, I had to go and view the damage and get back to report. 3 enemy planes didn't want me to do that. It puts a different perspective on the game when all you are trying to do is a job of work, avoid a fight, and get back home.
    Cheers
