Thread: DONCASTER 2022

    Default DONCASTER 2022

Ok, so looking forward to next year and trying to tie down dates.... Duxford is on 3rd weekend of September and the St.Leger Race meeting (in Doncaster) is on 9th-12th of September, to avoid both of these I would be looking at either the 1st or last week in September, so thats the 2nd-4th or 23rd-25th. Which works better for folk? let me know and I will sort things out.

Earlier would be better for me, it avoids the start of term at uni

Earlier would be better for me too.

Later for me, but earlier is also OK.

Please, note the final term into calendar here on the Aerodrome or/and to the very first post of this thread (it is better to have all informations on one place without need to seek them in the rest of thread).

We would prefer not to be so close to the August bank holiday, but either will be attended

    Lest we forget

I'd prefer the early one, to save me from attending both Duxford AND Doncatraz, but could do either Donnie weekend.

Probably for the same reason as John Eileen and I would prefer the later date, but also like him we could do the earlier one if we had to.

Right.... so having spoken to the museum today, things are a little congested next year (lots of bookings carried forward from 2020)
Keeping the event to the September period leaves us only two free weekends. Firstly we have 16/17/18th - now this is St. Leger weekend which might cause an issue with hotel bookings (although probably not if we booked early enough), the second option is the very last weekend which is 30th Sept and 1st/2nd October. I have pencilled in both of these, we need to decide which is going to work best for us (we are missing Duxford on these dates, which helps)

Feedback appreciated chaps... can always but a vote up and see what that gives us...

    Book it now, for the 30 / 1 / 2 weekend.

Many St. Leger folks will book accommodation before us; some may already have done so!
And it's not just a hotel issue - pubs and restaurants will be packed out as well, affecting anyone who wants to arrive a day early and/or leave a day later.

I've taken a flyer and booked in the usual Mess for the weekend, although at this stage its 50/50 whether I can make it as I will have four university course start dates to deal with around that time (!)

Very understandable Reg! I would think that quite within Dave's compass.

I just saw your message, panicked, and tried to book a room myself!

    SUCCESS! I'm booked in.

    Try again, Mark.

I can't think why they would be fully booked almost a year in advance! It seems they're not...

Booked mine a week ago just so I can cancel when they make France a Purple zone.
, Bookings .com had nothing that far ahead so went via the PI main site. There's always some AirBnB offers available.Did that one year and it was the same price as PI.

However there is the Campanile Might have been closed down due to the number of taxi customers visiting the Ladies of the night there!! Oh checked it out its fully booked

That one is the Lakeside Premier Inn Paul, but if you enlarge the map it brings up the Cresswold and if you do it one more magnification Doncaster East shows up on the map.
