Thread: European shops

    Question European shops

Hello there WGS community. I'm a new player who just received his BoB... from Britain.

I would like to ask the European members of this forum for a few european shops that usually have Wings of Glory in stock so I can buy from them. Now my country charges full VAT on customs when I order from Britain (Brexit stuff) and I need alternatives because it is becoming somewhat expensive for me to buy from there, even though their shops seem to have the most availability of stock.

I would prefer original Ares miniatures but if there isn't any stock, then I would also consider buying from 3rd party manufacturers, but only as a last resort.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry about the VAT thing Chris and I'm afraid I cannot help with your request for info, but just the same, welcome to the Drome from here in Devon. Know what you mean about the Brexit thing, Shapeways for us is based in Holland and the import / postage costs are rather heavy. Just have to save my pennies and put in larger orders each time now Any excuse!

Welcome to the Aerodrome, Chris, from here near Norwich in the United Kingdom.

There is this online shop called Philibert in France, which stocks Wings of Glory. https://www.philibertnet.com/en/sear...submit_search=

You could try your local branches of eBay and Amazon but they can be pricey.

There are others but I cannot think of any names at the moment. If you go to the Report for Duty section on the Forum, the best people to ask are the members of the European Wings listed there. You will find that the members here are very friendly and willing to answer questions about the game.

Also do explore this website. There is much here to add to your enjoyment of the game. Particularly look in the Files section.

So some of these webstores actually include an "[EN]" tag for a few of WGS products. What does that mean? That the pilot skill cards for example will be in French, German, Italian etc. unless there is an EN tag on that product? Because I don't care what the language is on the box or any rulebooks included (we can always find rulebooks online) but it'd be a bummer if the pilot skills or aircraft cards are in French for example.

To get people hooked where I live, the game has to be in English cause it is the only foreign language they understand

In every Airplane and Special Pack (bomber) that contains skill cards, all skill cards are in English.

The rulebook of starter set Battle of Britain is also in English.
For the international edition of BOB, there is only a french edition :

Perhaps there should be a Thread in the Market Place section of the Forum where details of shops selling Wings of Glory could be listed for all to see easily.

Welcome to the 'Drome' Chris from West Yorkshire in the UK. Can't help with shop info, I would have recommended Philibert but I see someone got in before me. Enjoy the game and this site and always watch your six, Fly safe.

Yeah I made an order from fantasy world a few days ago since it had the best price for the aircraft that I wanted to buy and also reasonable shipping.

    Hello David

Is there any other USA style tax to pay? Is the postage ridiculous or fair?

I have no idea about possible taxes but it is probably a good idea to expect the worst.

Blackfire has Fokker D.Is! Amazing. Kirschstein's and Lothar v Richthofen's planes? Where did they get their hands on those?

    My knee-jerk reaction is skepticism.

    They don't have them.
In the text description is the line "The deadline has passed so we may not be able to fulfil your pre-order"...

    PRE-ORDER

They don't have the Dr1s (nor many of their other listings).

Something I've encountered on a few sites, is that an online store will leave items in their catalog even though they don't have stock. It is a matter of setting a flag in their search application not to show unavailable items. Visitors can, sometimes, set that as a search filter. However, it is very misleading to visitors, if not frustrating in the extreme.

Perhaps it has something to do with site metrics, and getting visitors, as well as increasing their time on the site? Still not helpful to people looking for rare stuff.
