Default Do you use Photoshop or Illistrator (or another advanced graphics program)?

I just want to put together a list of our members that have or know how to use an advanced graphics program.

My job requires some pretty unusual processing so I have an odd work flow.

    Flat Graphics
    -Photoshop
-Illustrator (just enough to get by)

    3D Graphics
    -Z Brush
    -3DS Max (barely)
    -Poser
    -Rhino

    Video
    -Premier

But for the life of me I can not work with MS Paint on the girlfriends laptop enough to post pictures of my repaints here.

As i have some knowledge of ilustration i'm proficient with photoshop and paint tool sai, and could possibly keep up with some other.

I know some engineering 3d tools also as solid works or catia, that could make nice 3d designs for later ilustrative uses.

A little with Photoshop. I find the combination of Draw and Paint work too well together to switch to Photoshop.

I've been messing around with some logo ideas, anyone want to have a go at cleaning up, altering or even designing a logo for the site? I've attached my sketches below.

I'm looking for some thing that could go on the top of the website as well as be used for a "stamp" for marking missions, campaigns or house rules as Wings of War Aerodrome Approved.

    Any takers?

Nice drawings but with those two W's it makes it look medieval, the WW's look like the top of a castle wall or tower, and the shield just makes that matter worse. :P

I can't sketch anything worth a damn though, so I just go ahead and do stuff..
    Here's an idea I got.

I'm liking that one! Can I get it in a color with the text layers still intact please? That way I can easily adjust the color based on what I'm going to place it on as well as edit the text as needed.

Everyone else, keep them coming if you have ideas!

Well, today I lack any creativity, but I was thinking about having a header with the Axis and Allied side...

So for the ww1 German side it could use some of these elements maybe:

I left it on white background...

I need some more help guys. This time I need a set of simple icons for use as squadron symbols for the Knights of the Air world wide campaign. These should be simple icons/insignias that you would find on the side of aircraft during WWI.

I will most likely need 12 for the Entente side and 12 for the Central powers. They need to be no larger then 100x100 pixels.

Here are some examples of the kind of icons I'm looking for...

These were done by Max Headroom, thanks man!

Hey graphics guys, any of you want to help out with a little project for the site? If you look at the main Index page of the site, you will notice that the Off Duty section needs some nice, site related, icons for each of the forum sections.

Anyone feel like working on that for us?

    Serif Drawplus and Serif Pageplus.

I have experience in Illustrator but the above are what I use at home. Pageplus is an exceptional dtp package that allows me to create professional looking documents (I used to be a Graphic Designer by trade). You can find a sample of my work here in compressed in Rar format > http://nwvault.ign.com/fms/Download.php?id=93536

    Hi,

I wonder if you could help me please? I have worked out how to change the plane image on a card, but cannot work out how to change the text areas. I have created text in Paint but it is the wrong scale and has a white background. When I try to type text in Paint shop Pro it is not moveable. Is there something obvious I am missing, please? I am not very familiar with layers.

    Thanks,

    John.

Layers are life man. Definitely pick up a book about Paint Shop Pro, there are a ton of em out there and it'll open some serious insights to you about how to handle it.

I use Fireworks which is kind of Photoshop Light and more focused on web graphic design rather than professional graphic design for all mediums. I've found it extremely easy to use, plenty of power to do some advanced things with it, and it won't break the budget to buy either!

    Hello,

Personnaly, I use GIMP wich is very complete (I can't compare with Paint Shop Pro but seemed to be similar as far as I can see) and last but not least, Gimp is free.

Hi John, I'm not sure this will help significantly, but you could try running the Paint file with text through something like the MS photo editor, which will allow you to set the white background as a transparent colour. I'll agree with sparty that layers seriously help- they take a little while to figure out, but the options they open up are excellent time- and effort-savers.
    best regards

    I've worked with the following:
    AutoCAD (many years of use)
    Gimp
    Sketchup
    Photoshop (still learning)
I think for the icons, from the above posts, you easily have it covered already.

Anyone interested in working on some custom smilies for the site? I'm not looking for any thing to complex, something along the lines as these:

I've not added these to the site because I have not gotten permission form the owner of the site I grabbed them from.

Have to admit I'm still taken by Seiseki's first draft - simple, easy to decipher and is reminiscent of Art Deco but with a style of its own... it would be my choice.

I have been a computer programmer for... Egad! It's been 20 years now. I've used a lot of different graphics progams doing web stuff. But the programs I have at home currently are:

    Paint Shop Pro
    Modo
    Vue
    Poser

I've found that those can do what I need without bankrupting me in the process.
