Thread: The Raid Of Thunder

    Default The Raid Of Thunder

Here's a ginormous mission I came up with. If someone could test it for me, that'd be awesome, but trust me, you'll need a Gaming Group. *cough*Ohio guys?*cough*

    Raid of Thunder

A heavily escorted German bomber wing are sent to attack an allied factory guarded by rows of
AA guns . . . with an aerodrome near by.

Note: When referring to placement, use the center dot.

    Players: 5+ (6-10 reccomended)

Gaming Surface: Width: 136 cm. Length: 196 cm.

Special Rules: In order to make this game fair, I've added a few special rules. When the C deck runs out, simply re-shuffle the deck and continue play. Unfortunately for the Germans, a flash storm erupts when they near the target. No plane can risk going too close to the storm clouds, so the ceiling for this mission is altitude 4, meaning no plane can enter altitude 5 or higher. If a plane goes higher than altitude 4, it is eliminated automatically.

Rules Needed: Altitude, ground fire, special dmage, explosions, advanced bombing, take off, landing, crashes, fire on the ground, strafing, overdive, collisions, seperate AA player [Allied side(strongly reccomended)].

Allied Team: Place 4 target cards 1/2 ruler's distance from the other, in a square, with the card closest to the corner being 1&1/2 rulers' distance from the back and left sides of the gaming surface. These cards are the factory complex, the primary target for the German force. Place a target card 1 ruler's distance from the back of the gaming surface, 2 rulers' distance from the right side of the gaming surface. Place another target card 1&1/2 rulers' distance from the back and right sides of the gaming surface. Place another target card 1/2 a ruler's distance to the previous card's right. Place another target card 1/2 a ruler's distance to that card's right, so they form an L shape. These cards are the aerodrome. Any where within 1&1/2 ruler's distance of an aerodrome card counts as the landing area. The aerodrome is not the primary target, therefore it cannot be attacked by the bombers, though the German fighters can strafe grounded Allied fighters. The allied players place 40 AA guns, to his/her preference, anywhere on the Allied half of the playing surface.
IMPORTANT: AA guns are placed before any aircraft, grounded or airborne.
Place 2 Sopwith Camels 1 rulers' distance from anywhere along the back of the Allied side. On the second turn, place 4 Spad XIIIs anywhere along the back of the Allied side. These planes are at an altitude of 3. Place 4 Sopwith Triplanes directly infront of each aerodrome target card. These planes are grounded, and will take off by rolling of dice.

German Team: 4 Gotha G.Vs, refer to photos for placement. Surrounding the Gothas, place 5 Albatros D.Vas, any where at least 1/2 a ruler's distance from any of the Gotha's center dots. These planes are at an altitude of 4.

Winning Conditions: For the German team to win, they must destroy the factory complex then get at least one of their Gothas out of the back of the Allied side, then loop around back to the german aerodrome later (not during the game)
For the Allied team to win, he must destroy the Gothas before they escape.

Variant:Note: All placement is the same

    Allied Team:
    4 Caproni CA.3s,
    5 Spad XIIIs

    German Team:
    2 Pfalz D.III/D.IIIas (First turn),
    2 Albatros D.Vas (Second turn),
    4 Fokker Dr.Is (Grounded)

P.S.: On the 2nd picture, the blue ruler should be alighned with the middle of the back edge of the German side.

Oh, and you will have to xerox some of your cards in order to play this mission. Don't worry, I've done it, it won't harm your cards, and the xeroxes look awsome. Oh, and make sure you do it on cardstock.
