This was a patrol with only one objective to bring down as many German scouts as possible to allow the bombers through to their target.
This task had been allocated to the Bulldogs , and with a few hastily commandeered N17 they took off and headed East.
Marsh led the flight trying to keep above the clouds but ever watchful for the sign of German planes.Sure enough ahead of them the familiar outline of Hun aircraft greeted the flight.
Head to head they charged at each other.
The air was thick with bullets Marsh looked round to see several strike his rudder (2+RRD) ,
Henry peppered the fuselage of Thomas (2)
Bettmann's shots tore away at the struts of Henry's Nieuport (2,3)
while Henry's rounds split a fuel line on the Albatros (2+Fire)
Marsh was attracted to the flaming Alb and moved towards it, firing as it swept past him (1+LRD)
Henry slipped into a split-S while the German planes crowded into a potential mid air collision
Marsh missed a perfect clean shot due to gun jam on the E.III but eased off the throttle to stay behind the plane.
Thomas Immelled to avoid cutting across the 3 Nieuports
Schäfer survived the engine fire with remarkably little damage. Time to hunt but Parrot was the hunter on this occasion, smashing spars on the Albatros (3,0)
Marsh felt the first blast of heat from his burning fuselage as Bettmann opened up (1 +fire, 3) but Marsh was as accurate hitting the Fokker's rudder and tail
Henry was right on Battmann's tail and a short burst was all that was needed to bring the German down (0,4)kill Henry
Henry looked over his battered Nieuport and decided to keep in the fray, for the moment at least.
Marsh began to weave to keep the flames from advancing further up the fuselage, but his plane was beginning to loose its structural integrity.
Thomas scored a hit on Henry as he turned away from the falling E.III (2)
Parrott found himself staring down at Schäfer , He saw the twin flashes from the guns and fired back. His rounds tore though the remaining spars and wires of the Albatros and it gracefully flipped over, fabric shedding as it fell to earth. (EXP) Kill Parrott
Thomas flashed past Parrot and decided to keep on going.
Marsh continued to struggle to keep his plane aloft and dropped out of the action. Henry by now was too far behind the fleeing Halb to make a difference and joined his flight leader in the race for safe space. The show for today was over.

That looks to me like a Bulldogs win 10-0 Nice game Mike , Short and brutal. Mucho appreciated the purity of just gunning the Hun
