Thread: 3D printed bases

  1. #1

    Default 3D printed bases

I began this project a while ago now and have been steadily improving on the design.

My aim was to refine the original design by Cody and add the ability to place jam (or other markers both WofW and WofG sizes) on the base in a way that would stop them being dislodged when the plane was moved on the game mat.

I wanted a design that wasn't any more visually intrusive than necessary and would be easy to pick up - hence the reverse bevel (Cody's clever idea) on the sides of the base.

There are 4 different bases in the set - single seaters, 2-seaters and both variants of the Roland.

The stl files are downloadable from Thingiverse here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4892216

Excellent idea! Maybe someone here in the states with a 3d printer will print some up, and offer them up to those of us without a 3d printer. Hint, hint!!

Great idea, I will have to try printing some out. Will have to try some clear resin, it might work.

I was thinking that. too - a clear plastic (or other material) would look fantastic.

Yep, sure would. I did try a translucent filament on my Ender 3 but that was less than spectacular. I tried various colours of filament but the consensus in our little group was that black was the least visually intrusive.
