Last weekend (5/6 June) we had friends to stay and the husband is a wargamer. Having played a Seven Years War game on Saturday we decided to go more low key on Sunday as we were going out to lunch.
Accordingly I set up a WoW dogfight in the living room - just a simple game with three aircraft a side and each of us playing the leader with AI playing the wingmen. Andy had a Fokker Dr.I and two Albatri D.Va, and I had 3 Camels. In order to keep it simple we did not use altitude.
The game featured a flamer per side, a lot of jams (mainly British) and a lot of rudder jams (mainly German). I lost a Camel while Andy had his whole force shot down - personally I’d have expected his last Albatros to leg it for home before the end. Usually I am a poor pilot (compared to the AI) but I realised afterwards that I had scored all three kills 🙂.
Andy has about 35 WGF planes at home and about the same WGS (which I’ve never got into). I mumbled when asked how many Planes I have …. The game prompted Andy to say he must get his planes out and use them solo (cue comments from our wives about ‘pretty little aeroplanes’).
