I know it's a single build, but I only a tiny bit of time and the elves are still in therapy. It starts with sorting some magazines . . .

Dave, a helpful Lego tip. Have them build on a light colored towel. The parts are still visible and it keeps the small round pieces from rolling away.

A towel inside a large shallow Rubbermaid tub, like the ones restaurant busboys use to haul stuff back to the dishpit, works even better.

Four decades of Lego experience talking here... really wish I had somewhere I could leave the Jurassic Park Gate up for display.

Any way to help, Dave? Your drawings are looking pretty good.

Yes, twin guns were planned, there is a decent Wiki on it. Looking forward to your magic! One photo shows the color scheme, green wings, brown forward fuselage white rear tail and stabilizer . . .

Not sure of the colors, but PC 10 for the wings and tail, brown (Black?) for the fuselage sides, and White/Light Grey for the top of the fuselage (PC 10 nose and cockpit bands, perhaps).

Looking at the lower image in the previous post, I see peoples' heads behind the cockpit, perhaps under the wings. Also, a dark area, with ribs or bars, further aft, still under the wings, but not aft of the props.

This image also seems to indicate an opening under the wings, or behind the cockpit:

Note: you can see the nose position, and the cockpit with glass windshield, but there are heads aft, and perhaps under the wing, behind the wing struts. There is another head further behind them, perhaps the aft gunner position or not quite far enough aft? The aft gunner position may be behind the wing struts, and not visible, or there wasn't anyone occupying that position in this image.

Anyway, as a one-off plane, with no plans to use it offensively, the tail gun position may have been considered sufficient. Had the plane been used offensively, there may have been more gun positions. There were enough crew to man more guns. Aft waist guns could have been similar to the F.2A and F.3s.

Note: There is a hatch on the upper fuselage, under the wings, co-located with the engines. Either a maintenance hatch, and/or a cargo/loading hatch. This is something I've been looking for for the Fury, as there had to be an access for the 24-30 passengers and cargo, other than the cockpit and gunners ports. The openings in the photos above might have allowed passengers and cargo to be loaded more easily.

I have the "Flight of the Giants" boxed set, but I don't have the skill/knowledge to calculate the Damage Points. The listed speed of the Fury was within a few kms of the F.2A, so I used the same Maneuver deck.

With a crew of seven, I can produce a Management Card, but that will wait for stats confirmation.

Crew: Officer in charge; 2 x Pilots; Wireless Operator; Chief Engineer; 2 x Mechanics. Two of the crew would act as Gunners.

PS: With a proposed passenger capacity of 24-30, there is a lot of room in the hull. It is interesting that the drawings don't show windows/portholes anywhere. Cargo/luggage hatches?

    Crew: 1. Mechanic/Gunner; 2. Pilot; 3. Co-Pilot; 4. Officer in Charge/Pilot; 5. Wireless Operator (Pilot/Gunner?); 6. Chief Engineer (Pilot/Gunner?); 7. Mechanic/Gunner.

I don't believe, due to the location of the engines, that repairs would be done in flight, but I could be wrong. With such a large airframe, there could be other gun positions from the fuselage. I just don't know enough about this plane to add them in. Anyone have drawings that might suggest where they could be positioned?

Frustrating lack of info, I only turned this up online:
The crew were carried in three cockpits – a bow gunner’s position, dorsal position for the flight engineer and a side by side two seat cockpit for the pilots.
Positions for four .303in Lewis guns (twin mounts I'm guessing)

Another attempt to figure out what a seaplane might look like internally:

Name:	FelixstoweFuryHull-1.jpg
Views:	50
Size:	140.1 KB
ID:	303588

In the above image, I have overlaid a partial internal structure drawing over a full hull design drawing. I think the internal structure shown is the cockpit area, with the blue line as the Cockpit floor. There is space under that for the main floor. Which would indicate that the main area in the hull could have been up to six feet high.

An amazing amount of information you have discovered! I had this on my "someday" build list just to finish out my WWI catalog. There are less than a dozen on my list now. I will be back in Arizona the 8th of July and catch up with the shop elves. Thanks for all your efforts, they are magnificent! The next beast will likely be the Zeppelin killer-that couldn't climb high enough to fire its cannon

These images of the Felixstowe F.5 under construction clearly show the cockpit, gun positions, top and side hatches you're looking for

But no such hatches appear in the hull of the Fury when the hull was weighed - maybe it was top loaded through a hatch behind the cockpit where the bodies appear in the other photos.?

    ...
    Dave,
I understand that the prototype plane didn't have any waist guns. I was thinking of planes past the prototype. No operational airframes were actually produced, as the war ended before the Fury was past the test flight phase. The idea of waist guns is a what-if.

And to take it another step, perhaps top wing guns?

That Curtiss is a proper porcupine !
I don't think the construction of the Fury hull would allow for hatches as seen on previous models but I could see some being put in where it changes in the curve toward the tail - ie where the colour changes in this image.

On the weighing image you can see this is likely linen over frame so easy to pop a ply hatch in. I dare say they could have Lewis guns mountable by the forward hatches behind the cockpit as optional positions.
