Thread: Hello from Glasgow

    Default Hello from Glasgow

    Hello all,

I first encountered Wings of Glory several years back but it was temptation from the good folk at Common Ground Games in Stirling that got me into it. Since then, like many, I have become acquainted with all sorts of odd corners of the Internet as I have rounded out my collection of WWI and WWII aircraft.

I am usually a space gamer, X-Wing specifically, but Wings Of has always been one of my favourite games to take on holiday. It looks great at a distance, packs up small, and gives me a chance to indulge my real hobby which is storage.

Looking forward to a return to in person gaming. The overtime fairy has been very kind to me over lockdown, and as such I've gone whole hog (well two P-47s) into WW2 as well. I'm itching to try Dambusters vs Martians as soon as I can get access to a table bigger than the one in my flat.

Glad to see a good old fashioned phpBB community is flourishing in this modern age of social media. Takes me right back to the early 2000s, and in a good way.

    Cheers,

    Drew

I bid you welcome from a warm but showery Nottingham Drew.
I well remember a very wet day when we visited Stirling Castle a few summers ago. Firsat time I had seen horizontal rain.

(welcoming head bobs) from the lizard here in the 'States. Be sure to check out the files section for tons of add-ons, like "unofficial" aircraft, scenarios, play options, house rules, and indeed, even storage solutions. There's a bunch of us here that have come up with some creative ways to store our minis.

And if you have questions, ask away, you'll find us a friendly bunch.

Welcome Drew from the beautiful Hudson River Valley. My daughter is in graduate school in Glasgow and I really enjoy my visits there. My maternal Grandmother's family came to the U.S. from Glasgow (they were Clan Kerr).

Hi Boney10. Since joining recently I’m trying to get an idea of who is still active in Scotland. Great to know in any case.

I can only give you the list of Scottish members who were on the books for what it is worth when I retired from command at the end of 2019.

Yor new Co. Wing commander Hedeby might be able to update this with a bit more information. Otherwise it will be a matter of looking them up on the members list and seeing if they are still active.

Thanks Rob. Anytime I’m online I usual have a look at profile locations to see if they are near to my location. This is a great list that I can look through in future visits.
