Always a good day when an envelope or two from Miscmini drops through the jolly old letter box. Here are Kevin's latest offerings for Spanish Civil War-era Fiat Br20s and Savoia Marchetti SM79s.
As they had to come from the other side of the pond, it seemed a shame not to order a few more to make it worthwhile....

Wait... What?... The designer of Aliens - Another Glorious Day in the Corps lives at your house? Is your home actually a Center of Excellence for Creative Genius... where only the best and brightest creative types hang out? Do Elon Musk and Sir James Dyson live there too? .
Thanks for sharing, that is a very cool factoid. Please share that we are playing his game tonight and are insanely excited. We shall be throwing Aliens quotes at each other all night.
Just an update for those who are curious (that MIGHT be Jager) still painting like a fiend but not posting. Seems I hit my picture limit a while back so backed off. Deleted a few but not sure what I want to save and what goes anymore. Last few months have seen 3 Flames of war Infantry companies (US Paras, US Army, and German HEER) A Impi or two of Zulu, assorted D and D figs, and a Saga Viking army (Well almost finished anyway). Also punched out a platoon of Shermans for My FoW army and have a box set of Epic Civil war sitting here waiting for me to clear my desk in the next year or so.
Very nice Chris

Great job, Chris.
The wood grain looks awesome.
Excellent Chris! Can you describe your process for the wood grain?
Great looking plane there Chris.
Thanks, guys -- appreciate the comments and the REP!
I'll probably try to simplify it but I was "winging" it. All Vallejo colors: a base coat of model color Tan Yellow. Then I made a glaze with a drop each of Game Color Dark Fleshtone and Game Ink Skin Wash and diluted it heavily, about 20:1 with water and a couple drops of Glaze Medium. That was too thin so I added a couple drops of model color Mahogany Brown. The application was not to tough, just make sure the consistency is thin but not runny and paint a thin coat and let it dry a bit. It's sort of a glaze and a wash and seeps into the crevices if any.
That worked great until the decal stage and I got in a hurry and placed the wrong cross on the port fuselage. So I had to scrape that off which meant repairing the finish, etc. But I like the look and didn't make a total wreck of it lol.
Wings: Vallejo model color Green Gray, Deck Tan, and a 50/50 mix of Black Red & Cavalry Brown. The fuselage ribbon and wheel covers are mixes of Flat Red and Black Red in slightly different proportions.
Undercarriage and lower wings: Reaper Surf Aqua. It's pretty intense color and I usually desaturate it but I liked the contrast with the wood grain for this guy.
Spinner and forward fuselage: Vallejo model color light gray.
Tires: Vallejo game color Cold Grey.
Prop: Scalecolor Iroko overpainted with Vallejo model air Wood.
Metal bits: P3 Galvanized Steel and Vallejo model color Gunmetal Grey.

You've made a grand job of that D.II, Chris.

Thank you, guys.
That would be a gorgeous plane, Mike! Someday my Jasta 5 ship will come in.
Some excellent work there by all! What a difference 3d printers have made the the wargaming hobby. Now no matter how obscure or rare a model is their is always someone who can print it up
Two Valom Sopwith Pups - one is based on C215 54 (Training) Squadron and the other is based on the scheme for Stackard's Camel. Stackard 'Camel' decals are from miscmini while the others are Valom kit decals. There are different opinions on the colour of the underwing stripes for the 54 (Training) Pup - e.g., red and CDL for both wings, black and white, or the one I used.
Nice work, Paul.
It's interesting how the usually drab UK planes brighten up when UK based or in the training squadrons

Remember these boys?
I was happy with them, until I started delving into my Research into Jasta 2, which lead me to discover the multiple errors in Serial numbers, national crosses and paint colours used on them; plus, Albatrossyness Part 1 entailed depicting more detail on the new planes...
I finally bit the bullet, and took these beasties back into the paint shop to upgrade them to the same standard as part of Albatrossyness Part 2.
Here are the "upgrades"...

Found this answer to one of my major modeling gremlins. You may have had it happen to you, there you are carving a pile of Zeppelin props and the blade on your model knife keeps slipping out at the wrong time! Even worse when it falls to the floor and you cut yourself on it as you pick it off the floor . . .
So I bought a Cricket Maker last month, more on this gem later. I was buying extra blades for it when there was harp music and curtains parted and there it was, the answer to my #11 blade angst!
A clever design that actually clamps and LOCKS your blade in place!
Very cool modification the the ubiquitous #11 blade. Now to give it a test drive!
Wow, great find there Clipper. Guess there will be a few of us heading out tomorrow looking for one of these.
Wonder if they are available in the U.K. my craft knives are wrecked as someone used them to cut up carpet...
Never Knowingly Undergunned !!
wow! i need those dave! cant count the times my blade stealth loosened itself and flips, spins, or rotates off what im working on. so anoying!
Thanks, Phillip. Loving these
Nice work there Chris!

Last lot for this month, some more stuff for my Spanish air forces. Heinkel He51s printed using Plane Printer's files,
And more resiny goodness from Dave at Armaments in Miniature - Heinkel 111Bs, Meßerschmitt 109Bs, Dornier 17Es and a couple of Tupolev SB2s.
May actually get round to some painting in June
