Thread: More Planes

    Default More Planes

Having started my campaign in training mode with Wings over Flanders Fields Between Heaven & Hell II, I can see that we need more early types in our WGF game. Caudrons and Be2 machines would be great. Anyone know if there are any plans along these lines with Ares?

Not many early French in that aspect. The only Caudrons I have seen are shapeways.

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for anything new from Ares Gary.

MY PICK FOR A EARLY PLANE!
    Royal Aircraft Factory F.E.2
Between 1911 and 1914, the Royal Aircraft Factory used the F.E.2 designation for three quite different aircraft that shared only a common "Farman" pusher biplane layout. The third "F.E.2" type was operated as a day and night bomber and fighter by the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War. Wikipedia
    Introduced: 1915
    Engine type: Reciprocating engine
    Manufacturer: Royal Aircraft Establishment
    Variants: F.E.1, Vickers VIM
    First flight: 1914
    Number built: 1,939

Ares really needs to do a re-release of some of the early war aircraft. Eindeckers and DH.2s have been impossible to find for years.

Probably already posted in the forum somewhere, but why the supply issue? Funding or just an output issue?

    Thumbs up

I sourced 2 x BE 2's from Shapeways years ago as it was a "must have" for the British in early war games.
Easy to paint in CDL & then just add decals!

Those BE2c's are very nice. Such a slender fuselage...

Shapeways has to be your best bet Unless you really do not like painting them yourself. Not sure what alternative there is for early war planes otherwise. Valom perhaps, but again its DIY. There are a fair few photos of my collection of Shapeways earlies in various albums on my home page if you want to take a ganders
