Beautiful but that is one hideous bit of art on the closest one
Part of the TVAL collection, led by a D.II.
Last one is an Albatros DVa in the markings of Fritz Rumey, Jasta 5.
He shot down more enemy fighter aircraft in his short flying career than The Red Baron did. Rumey scored a total of 35 victories against fighters while von Richthofen's total score of 80 only included 29 single-seat fighters (excluding five single seat B.E.12's which were modified two-seat B.E.2's).
His final score of 45 victories meant that he had a 3.5:1 ratio of fighter to two-seater victories, compared with the 0.57:1 ratio scored by MvR.
Rumey was KIA late September 1918 when his chute failed to open correctly at 1000ft following a collision with an SE5a.

Gorgeous pic! And interesting background, Dave
Impressive pic.
RE: scout vs. 2-seater kills. I think it shows that MvR knew what was important for the war effort: blind the enemy. Can't recall if any of his kills were on bombing missions.

Wonderful! Love the paint schemes!
Love the picture!
Thanks for the information flash.
Great photo Andy & must agree with the comments on Fritz Rumey's plane. Not attractive art.
I had the opportunity to get up close and personal with this particular aircraft on a visit to the TVAL hangar years ago. Here are my shots from that visit:

Great pics Wayne. I wonder the reasons why Rumey, and TVAL come to that, chose that particular scheme ? I can imagine they get some stick for it these days. In the books I have it's referred to a 'the Demon Head'.
Second Albatros in line is that of another Jasta 5 ace Josef Mai - he ended up credited with 30 victories, 12 with Albatros', 3 with a Dr.1 and 15 with the Fokker D.VII. He survived the war and passed away 18 January 1982 (aged 94).
He, Rumey & Otto Könnecke claimed 40% of the Jasta's victories, making them the third highest scoring jasta of the war, and were known as 'The Golden Triumvirate' apparently.
