Thread: A nice weekend's read

    Default A nice weekend's read

Picked up this special from Iron Cross on His Nibs. Interesting articles in its 130 pages on the back history of MvRs book "Der Rote Kampfflieger", biographical details of MvR, his trophy collection, The Fokker Triplane and the British view of it, MvR's dicta for air fighting, Oswald Boelke's mentoring of the young pilots of Jasta 2, The Flying Circus, MvR through the eyes of his contemporaries, the cult of MvR, a detailed look at his victories and an overview of the pilots that flew with MvR.

There are separate articles on the MG.08 machine gun and orders, decorations and awards of the German flying service. Well worth the cover price of £8.99.

Nice. I will have to order one online. Don't get many of their magazines in the USA.

Certainly a "Must" for fans of the Red Baron.
However not for me thanks as I have read & watched quite enough of MvR.

Hmmm... so, this is not a physical print offering?

I'm a dinosaur, and want something tangible if I'm paying $15 Cdn for it.

    I ordered the physical copy.
But it's £15.99 including shipping. A bit more than $15 CDN ($27.66 by my calculations)

Mike, it is a physical print, hand-crafted in genuine papyrus and each page illuminated by Trappist monks.

Note - part of that statement may not be entirely correct

Does it come with some Trappist beer, too?

    Steve,
Glad to have been able to renew interest in this publication with my WWI Historical Discussions post about this magazine issue. Thanks for drawing it to people's attention initially.
