Default OTTCYM Mission 11 - Attack Plane Surprise - Sept 19th 1916 by camelbeagle

    Eagles Aerodrome
Attention! Today’s flight assignments are as follows. ObLtn Rob Eicher, Rolf Hossler, Falco Bahr, and Jacob Rosenhain. Take your Albatros C.III to the front lines and do some strafing. Our brave men in the trenches could use some help with those dug in British Poodles. ObLtn Klaus Knacke and Alfred Sessler, take those wonderful Albatros D.II up on patrol. Make sure that there isn’t any British Swine in the air. Good Hunting!

    Bulldog Aerodrome

Okay Chaps listen up! Those Bosch have been strafing our boys in the trenching more than usual. The strafing is really taking a toll on our boys and they have requested our help. The mission today is to take up our planes and try and surprise some of those dirty Bosch and shoot them down before they do much damage. Lt Robert Armstrong, 2Lt Thomas Bell, 2Lt Linus Dreyfuss, and 2Lt Robert Howe. Suit up and get to your planes. Good Luck up there!

Eicher/Hossler and Bahr/Rosenhain are finishing up some strafing runs. Been a milk run for them so far with very little opposition.

Howe’s plane goes from smoke to flames as his plane catches fire. His Rudder is damaged in the exchange as well. Howe is very happy he checked his bullets before he left. He shoots off a burst of lead that damages Eicher/Hossler’s engine. Sessler keeps the attack coming to Howe damaging his Rudder as well. All this damage is too much for Howe’s Nieuport. The brave Bulldog goes down!

Holy Toledo! What a blood bath!
Things were looking good for the Doggies in the early stages but everything went Pear shape from then on.
Many pilots gone for the rest of the Campaign from both sides.

Have some Rep to ease the pain.

Bad day for the Bulldogs and not a great day for the tandem Eagle crews ! Lead flying in all directions, that was a wild ride indeed.

    Onkel says:

Well, you couldn't save the tandem's, however, you wreaked your revenge on the enemy in no uncertain manner and we'll celebrate tonight.

Obltn Klaus Knacke is awarded the Iron Cross 1st class for his fifth victory for the Kaiser.

PM me your chosen ace skill for Knacke Dan

Ltn Alfred Sessler is awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class for his third & fourth victory for the Kaiser as well as The War Merit Cross (Lippe) (WMC(L)) for his outstanding result of three victory's in this action.
    Almost an ace himself.

    On t'other side:

    A/Lt D'Urban Blake takes command
2Lts Alfred Duncan & Edwin Mackay join the depleted Bulldogs

Well that was a shocker for sure, Dan.
So many out for the count on both sides.

On the opposite end of the scale, Ltn Alfred Sesser performed admirably for the Kaiser's Adler, and Obltn Knacke scored one to boot.
So there will be schnapps tonight, but a subdued atmosphere as the POWs are toasted in absentia.
    Prost!

Great outing for your Adlers - one ace and another one away from ace...all of that in a few scenarios. Eleven kills in four scenarios - surely you're on your way to the ace of aces for the campaign!!!

Virtual pints in the mess are on you for sure.

A lot of orange on my Eagles and Bulldogs rosters. I think the ground troops were quite concerned from all the blood raining from the skies!

Now then Dan -" Poodles" and "swine" and "crows" was it, that reference to a "Murder of Nieuports" in the opening few lines huh! - Steady on there, make your mind up. Otherwise I shall be having bad dreams about fat pink creatures with curly tails flying through the air in a bizarre flock, with strange hair do's. Nightmare!
Glad to see you are keeping Onkle / Uncle busy. Four pilots out from both sides in one mission - Ouch And all of those heavy damage cards coming out too. What did you do, remove most of the "0"s? I keep them in myself. Recently my Bulldogs have been very fond of pulling them.
Certainly was a bloodthirsty tangle indeed. Well played
REP winging its way to you on the back of a flying Poodle - or was it a Labradoodle?

A "Murder" is what a flock of Crows is called. If anyone didn't know.

Yes, the Animals were a pretty good band. LOL!

I have been getting some pretty nasty damage pulls. I even used the card shuffler this time to take out any bad shuffling on my part. Maybe I need to do an exercise in 52 card pickup and see if that gets them a bit more randomized.

As Barry said "Holy Toledo" that was an action packed game, I started off reading the text and relating it to the picture but by about a third of the way through I was just reading the text as it got more and more exciting and intense and eventually when I started to look at the pictures again there was no one there. The 8 planes had dwindled to 2. What a ride.

Then part way through the mayhem I read "Knacke and Bell are both resetting their tactics." and thought crikey he has tactics!!! I thought it was just carnage personified.

The only piece of advice I can give, is to Hossler. "Hossler, with much anger, pounds on his guns with a hammer trying to unjam them" never use a hammer to unjam your guns, you will break something, always use a wooden mallet. I have this on good authority from my one time Observer Jack Cowan " It doesn't help unjam the gun but it sure helps with the frustration of having jammed guns"

    Great stuff.
