Thread: ‘Over the Briny’ Aerodrome hosted game.

  1. #1

Default ‘Over the Briny’ Aerodrome hosted game.

‘Over the Briny’ Aerodrome hosted game.

Action will be over the Adriatic. Austrians vs Italians. Specific mission briefs will be sent to each side.
1st 8 pilots to ask for a position get to fly.

Game duration – 15 turns max.

    Rules:

Advanced rules with altitude (flying higher).

House Rule -* Explosions cause half of the planes starting damage (rounded up) for all aircraft.

House Rule - When diving you DO NOT lose any climb counters, you simply lose a level of altitude. (eg If you start your dive at 3+2 climb counters, you finish the dive at 2+2 climb counters)

House Rule, Immelmanns are a 3 card maneuver so I do not allow straight, Immelmann, straight, Immelmann sequences.

House rule, on an Immelmann you do not have to gain an altitude chit, it is your choice to do so. If you do not want to gain an altitude chit plot your Immelmann with an X.
Immelmann turn with no altitude gain examples, Turn 4 – 1, 12X, 2.
    Previous turn ended on a straight, Turn 6 – 12X 1, 6

    Procedure:

I will randomly assign pilots to planes and I will set the starting locations. Starting altitude is 4.

The planes will be marked with a name sign, the actual altitude and climb markers.

Every player dispatches me a PM with its three maneuvers in the format Turn (T2), maneuver (-1)
    Example for turn 1, Turn 1 – 1, 6, 4
Use the numbers on the card scans I supply.

If all maneuvers have arrived, I post aerial view images for every phase of the round, plus some additional atmospheric images where possible.

    Shooting phase:

I manage the damage and inform the players about secret damage.

House Rule - You will always shoot at the closest enemy target, unless you can shoot at another enemy and gain the a* +1 modifier either for shooting at the same target in corresponding phases or for Height advantage.

+1 for continuous fire. +1 not gained if ‘Disruption’ damage taken. +1 for altitude advantage.

House Rule - Gun Jam damage cards will affect only one gun at a time so an "A" firing aircraft becomes a "B" firer after one jam and cannot fire at all after a second jam until cleared.

I haven't used any of my Italians yet, and the few Austrians that made it to the table have flown as Germans.

Should be a good one to watch.

Quick "House Rule" question Peter. Is the altitude loss from a Split S optional too as per your Immelmann rule?

Those glasses look thick enough to stop bullets, you'll need a better plan.

My eyes aren't what they used to be so reading the numbers on these cards is beyond what I want to do. Adding readable #s is a must for me. In an online game with Mike I misread a card between an 11 and a 17. He was unforgiving and made my tripod topple and that basically ended the game. I won't give him the pleasure again.

To all pilots, until the first moves are sent in you can discuss tactics with your wingmen. Once the game begins I expect no communication between anyone about the game.

Uh-huh. I've run games where emails flew back and forth, detailed plans were made. After card 1 was played, it was totally ignored.

Why did they waste the time and effort?

Used to play huge multi player historical battles and to pass orders you wrote down the order and the umpire held the order until the dispatch rider Miniature(from whatever period) made it across to the officer of the unit you wanted to give the order to.

Making space in the basement and setting up the table after dinner. Hope to get it all done and starting photos up tonight. If not I'll get it up first thing in the morning.
