Thread: NOT a Bombing Mission

    Default NOT a Bombing Mission

Wayne is off visiting folk in the East so there were just the three of us last night for our weekly stoush. Mark wanted to do a bomber plus escort against two fighters so:-

German Intelligence has managed to procure a copy of the plans for an upcoming offensive. A two seater Roland (Baxter) is despatched together with an escorting Albatros (Jacobs model piloted by Windy Jack) to retrieve the information. The papers will be in a knapsack suspended between two poles and the two seater pilot will have to fly exactly over the middle to hook the bag and pull it into his plane. The target card will not be laid down on the map until the two seater pilot it ready to do his run which will consist of a short/long/short straight sequence. If under fire at the time or if he misses the centre of the target card he will have to go round again. He will then have to head back to the German lines as quickly as possible to achieve a successful mission. The escort will do all in his power to keep any opposition away.

For the entente, we have two camels on patrol. Both flown by Mark. He is flying the Brown and Barker camels. He has no idea (he does really) of the importance of the two seater and this is just a routine patrol for them. To win he must shoot down that two seater.

The game opens with the Roland heading for the side of the mat while Jacobs attacks a Camel in a headlong dash. The Roland is giving a good account of itself too.

Eventually Barker collides with Jacobs and for them the game is over!

Despite having sustained a fire and rudder and engine damage, not to mention a couple of jams, the Roland wins through.
He downs the last Camel with a parting shot too!

An epic battle with the honours going to the Germans. Thanks to Mark for suggesting this scenario and to Windy Jack for his selfless attacks on the Camels. I do not think those Camel pilots were expecting this kind of desperate ferocity.

    Thanks, Baxter, for this report.
My rep gun is as jammed as some were on the Camels and Roland.

    What a dust-up!

Did the Roland get the package?
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!

That looked fun, the Alb was ferocious but the Roland was no slouch either. Lots of big numbers coming out, out of interest how many decks do you use ?

If you meant damage decks then just one A deck, one B deck and a C deck for collisions.

The Roland did get the package by the way. That prompted the German offensive of next Tuesday night.
