Thread: Play by PM: Looking down - Finished

Just a newbie question, why doesn’t the blind spot rule apply because gangleader is flying away? I have read the rules and blind spot only applies if the target crosses the front half only. There doesn’t seem to be logic there, as if they are same altitude, the blind spot is there whether flying towards or away, which seems to be at odds with the rules?

There is no blind spot at long range at the same altitude so in this case gangleader is a legitimate target..

    Turn 6 in.

    How the Blind Spot Works:
If the target is at the same or lower altitude*
    1. Lay the ruler peg to peg.
    2. If the ruler passes over the rear edge of the firer's base and
    3. Any part of the target's base is at short range
Then the target is in the blind spot and cannot be shot at.
(* As with all rules there are some exceptions to this - Hannover being one of them)
....And yes, long range shots can be taken !

Thanks for clarification and this reference to the FAQ’s. It has answered a number of issues and is an awesome piece of work, thank you for the time and effort it must have taken.

Erm ... after making a quick calculation of the damage per pilot, I realized, that 5-3 was the final turn, when Gangleader147 received two additional damage points. Sorry for the surprising and abrupt end of the game. I oversaw the first two +1 aiming damage. Next time I will sent everybody the whole actual damage, when new damage was received.

Thank you Florian for organising another great game. Thanks also to my wingmen and our gallant opponents. I shall be running another Play by PM game shortly, probably next week, so watch this space.

    The set completed.

    Nicely done, Florian.

Not that it matters in the end, but shouldn't Teaticket have one more A card damage for fire?
    (Sorry, Peter )

Wow - even I had calculated it wrong, thought I still had my notebook that could suck up another bullet or two.

I believe that he removed one fire counter with his power dive.

No, he received two times fire damage cards and could avoid one damage card with his overdive (got a 1 B damage card = 1 fire marker lost).

I also had the feeling, that you can hold one or two hits after 5-3. The "virtual" +1 damage is easily ignored, when you don't separate the cards in two separate decks.

Thanks to everyone oppo’s and colleagues and Karo again for running it. Lol, with the card draws, I got 2x 3 damage from the B deck and 8 from the c deck collision which was the real damage (I see that teaticket got a 0 on crash). Would have been nice to get a few more moves in but a good intro game and a lot learnt. Thanks again and would be interested in other PM games if I can just get these wounds healed!!!

Well done all - a great game. An introduction for me to Altitude rules and how they work. Tension as each new round brings a whole new set of permutations Thanks to Florian for running the game and thanks to all who participated, REP on its way. Definitely want to participate in another one. Hope the onlookers enjoyed the show.

Now all I have to do is explain to my mechanic who spent a whole day painting my aircraft how I managed to get a bullet hole in it.

Seems my pilot was a very good shot. Two 3 point cards on you and a 3 point card on Gangleader147. Those collisions are such a crap-shoot. Lots of '0's in the C deck but also some nasty big numbers. I had a very lucky game for sure.
