Wow, awesome group, Tim!
The chaotic production line in Brewer, Maine has;
(2) Shapeways 1/200 Vickers Videbeests. Both will be units flown on the Malayan peninsula in late 1941,
(2) AIM 1/200 Bristol Blenheim MkIs, also painted in early pacific war colors and units,
(1) Bristol Blenheim MkIf (I am adding the lower gun bay from scratch parts),
.... and a 1/48, 1974 Tamiya Ki-84. I built this same exact model over 40 years ago.
Hmmm.... Vildebeests. I wonder how slow they are.....143 MPH! ok.
Ahh, in more news, no pics, but I got back to the table and 10 more little crosses on those little bugg....er He.162s.
A whole Deep Purple album of time, but only 1 cross ruined, so better.

I see that putty is proving useful, Dave
It’s funny you mention that Chris. On the first two Blenheims I did, I used the wrong green. I didn’t notice it until I pulled the masks off. It was just too light. As a result, I had to hand paint the correct color over it. The entire time I was wondering how I ever managed to paint base colors by hand for so long. It is simply barbaric! Airbrushing is 10x faster and gives a perfectly uniform coat every time.
I noticed on Scalehobbyist that they have an AK brand of this product out now and it is very inexpensive.
I’ll be adding the Vildebeests to my unofficial stats wishlist soon!
There you go.

Another painting exercise presented itself in the form of a 30 year old 1/72 scale F14 Tomcat that my nephew had put together but found it's way into the storage box. Bob (BB401) and I just happened to notice the extended trailer for "Top Gun - Maverick" which is to be released in July. After months of foraging for and re-habbing old aircraft in the storage box I finally took notice that the 1/72 F14 was a "Top Gun" model! It was essentially in tact and I thought that a bit of cleaning and spruce up paint and it could be a respectable model as opposed to the quick build "toy" it started out to be. I ended up having to Solvaset a few of the old decals back into place and do a careful and tedious "paint around" of all the decals, not only to cover the yellow edges and spaces, but also what I call "white shadow" that plagued many of them. Every square millimeter of this Tomcat got repainted and all of the old decals saved/restored. What follows is a few before and after pics, plus the finished paint job.
Before - showing problems like the white shadow, open seam(s), canopy frame.
After - showing re-paint, filled seam - careful stippling needed which is why the surface is a bit rough.
Underside - everything had to be painted in place - these are the AIM 7 Sparrows
Sparrows in "War Paint" and wheel wells updated.
Amazing rescue op, Willi! Love it
Beautiful restoration William!
Impressive, Tim
Quite the airforce Tim! All are very well done!
Nice!

[QUOTE=Shadowcat;548990]Next slug that has gone out over the last week or so. The 12mm Civ war cav from Kallistra is mine to go with the New Warlords stuff. The German Heer troops are 15mm Flames of War stuff.
Painting up 3 boxes of Deus Vult myself, I can appreciate the work that's gone into these - really nice mate, well done.
Dave
That Jasta looks great, as do the others - wish I had the steady hand and eagle eye of my youth (when I couldn't afford to indulge my hobbies very much) instead of the shaky bog eyed version now I can afford a few paints and models!
(My wife would query the 'few' bit there, considering the rack of paints, brushes, tools, models etc I've bough in the past few months... good job she quite like them when they are finished).
