    Default The Blackburn Skua

So has anyone done anything on this beastie? Might be need a card for a few off the Ark Royal, say 1941? Er, Mike?

Someone has. I have 6 of them and the card I have is for the I deck 17 damage points.

I don't appear to have done that one; I have the Roc, using the XB deck.
Gary: was the card from Max Headroom?
Let me add it to the list; maybe this weekend.

Great work Mike. I was having trouble remembering where my card came from.

Here we go; not hard at all.

    Blackburn Skua:
Deck: XA (add divebombing cards) [This is the He-111's deck]
    Hits: 17
    Ceiling: 7
    Climb: 6
Guns: B/A // A/A (standard rear firing arc)
    Base: Fighter

Cool! I am working up a deck load of bombers to engage a big baddie . . .

I did the one where the Skua's sank the German cruiser Konigsberg which was the only victory of note for the aircraft type I believe. For some stupid reason the British favoured the Swordfish and neglected this dive bomber that had so much potential. It could have been a great asset to the fleet if it had been further developed with more powerful engines etc.

Nice to see the Skua getting an airing. My dad quite liked them. I had a look through his album but can't find any pics of them.

I'm not sure they could have upengined it; lots of planes couldn't. Look at the Whirlwind...no Merlins for you
I don't regard the Skua having a lot of potential; quite the opposite.
That said, the skua and the swordfish are 2 examples of how the FAA was crippled by the "Bomber Barons" of the RAF for decent aircraft.

One note on the choice of deck: since this is a bomber deck, it lacks a 45 degree turn. Now, since the I deck has no 30 degree turn, this is called irony
Sadly, due to available decks to use, I have no good solution.

OK guys. I have to make a serious apology.
While trying to make a turn card for the XA deck, my measurements were mathematically correct from my tables, but it looks too small. So I
got out a He.111 for the cards. Either my scientific ruler is way off, or I have more bad data.
I fixed the tables for the XA and XB decks, but now the Skua is too slow for the XA deck
(Getting really mad at myself now).
The "good" news is that we can use the Z(T) deck (arrow only movement) with only adding divebomb cards.
