Default OTTCYM Mission 9 - Look 'Who's Stalking Who' - 5th September 1916 by camelbeagle

    Bulldogs Aerodrome:
Okay chaps! There have been a lot of bosch patrols lately. We need to go up and rough them up and show them up. Lt Robert Armstrong and 2Lt Arthur Burger. Take a couple of the DH.2 up and see what you can shoot down at first dawn.

2Lt Robert Howe and 2Lt Ian Aldridge. After noon tea, you two go up in those new Nieuport 17 and see what you can do with those new birds.

Sir, those Nieuports are not even marked yet. They still have the French roundels.

I don’t care soldier. Get it in the air.

    Eagles Aerodrome:
Attention! We need to patrol the lines and shoot down any enemy aircraft. Attack anything you see if you have the advantage. Ltn Justin Bohme and Ltn Casar Fischbacher. Take a couple of the Fokker E.III up in the morning light. See if you can catch some of those British swine! ObLtn Klaus Knacke and Ltn Vinzent Braun, take the Halberstadt D.III up in the afternoon and do the same. Good hunting!

    Plane assignments:
    Morning Patrol
Lt Robert Armstrong: DH.2 green tail
2Lt Arthur Burger: DH.2 linen tail

Ltn Justin Bohme: Fokker E.III grey with blue strip around fuselage
Ltn Casar Fischbacher: Fokker E.III all grey

    Afternoon Patrol

2Lt Iam Aldridge: Nieuport 17 green colored

ObLtn Klaus Knacke: Camouflaged Halberstadt D.III

They pounce on Fischbacher. Armstrong’s Sharp Eye hits home and gives Fischbacher a very very bad wound. Burger’s plane gets shot up pretty good. (Ignore the damage to Armstrong. Mistake that I caught later). (Also, I goofed up while writing this and scratched out the ruler from Armstrong to Fischbacher. That is suppose to be there)

A furball happens as all the planes get jumbled up. Bohm gets a shot at Burger and damages his rudder controls. Fischbacher’s gun fire tears through Armstong’s plane. Causing it to catch fire and injuring Armstong.

Nicely done Dan, a couple of wild rides there and at least a decent result for the Eagles to go with it. The pics look great and the stories are starting to flow so well done all round mate
A few tweaks in the Tally and Onkel will have you knocked into shape !

    Onkel says:

Well done Eagles - three victory's over the course of the day and although our machines suffered badly we suffered no loss & they will be back in the air by morning, the pilots, however, may take a bit longer...

ObLtn Klaus Knacke is awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class for his third victory One to watch!
Ltn Justin Böhme receives his Pilots Badge

You got properly confused with the first pic - Burger did not register a hit despite being head on with Fishbacher ! Maybe that 1GJ you put beside Armstrong should have been Fishbacher's from Burger ? It's easily done in the heat of battle.
Note: An inherent skill can only be used once a game - Armstrong should've only used Sharp Eye once in his class.

Meanwhile across the line 2Lt Thomas Bell (Can) replaces his compatriot

Well done, Dan. At this rate Klaus Knacke will be challenging Pete's aces for top Eagle by the end of this campaign.

Onkel's note "Note: An inherent skill can only be used once a game - Armstrong should've only used Sharp Eye once in his class. "

OOPS! I better re-read that section. Apologies on that one.

Don't know why I keep missing the WIC in the E&E. I'll get it eventually!

I have to say that all of you involved need a lot of kudos. Keeping track of 8 different planes can be a challenge. Found myself having to "Go back in time" and redo a couple of moves because I missed something that would have made a huge difference. I have to say, it is fun getting the planes out. First time I got to use a DH.2. I even had to take the shrink wrap off of the cards! LOL!

    Thanks!!!!

Glad you're having fun with it Dan - Getting planes out for the first time makes it all the more worth it

An excellent result for our Adler!

    Well done, Dan.

I see your DH.2 followed the course of action my first-time-to-the-table aircraft usually take.

I find taking pictures (even if they don't get used in the AAR) really helps when you think you may have missed something.
My last one I instinctively picked up 'B' damage cards instead of 'A', but luckily realized before moving on.

Sometimes, however, mistakes are only noticed when creating the AAR.

    Thumbs up

    Another good effort Dan!
Takes a while to get all the rules straight in ones mind so that will come.
I second the suggestion of referring to photos to help write the AAR's.
I would be lost without referring back to the pics as I write up the story.
One suggestion is do not rush the game & take the time to check out everything after a turn.

Have some Rep to help you on your way.

Another good outing for your boys and some sage advice from Pete and Barry on pictures and notes.

You have a nice collection of early wars planes, are the Elll's valom? I'm a bit confused because the decals appear to be theirs but the bases appear to be wow. Mind you I'm easily confused.

Vagabond. They are Ares planes that I repainted and put the Valom decals on. The decal set is very nice for the Fokker E.III. They have a some really nice kits. I came across some of the E.III Buddecke for a good price before they became expensive collectors pieces.

Well played Dan - nice one, if you happen to be an Adler of course Those EIIIs, in particular, did really well against the DH2s

Congrats to ObLtn Klaus Knacke and Ltn Justin Böhme for their gongs - drinks on them I assume - mines a pint, thanks

Rep inbound and thanks for the entertainment

Nice one Dan. Your boys pulled out the stops when it counted. You do our Eagles proud.

Yeah, lots going on and more to remember. I still get messed up here and there.
