Thread: SHARING GOOD NEWS !

    Default SHARING GOOD NEWS !

Thought I would create a space where we can share some good news stories, doesn’t have to be anything to do with Wings or any other hobby related thing, it just needs to be good news, news that will put a smile on folks faces. Alas I don’t have anything at the moment, but I’m sure some of you will. So let’s find something positive to share in these dark times...

Steve had a spare set of legs for my Voss F.1 triplane - that's the best news I've had in a while but should anything else occur I will bear this in mind !

Nice one Dave, so you had problems with a legless bird, and now you are sorted.

Had a go at sculpting a foam-core observation balloon in preparation for an ongoing zeppelin project.
It's turning out pretty good! Photos to follow.

I had great news Thursday as a long awaited shipment arrived. Guus (Aardvark1430) procured for me a set of WW2 Dutch planes that had been taken off the market. I can't thank him enough. With luck they will be painted by February.

    Awesome good news!
She will forever be able to say "Danger is my middle name! No really... it is."

That remark in itself brought a smile to my face Jeff.
The second good news thanks to Paul.
I can now go and wet his Grandaughter's head.

My good news, concerns my youngest daughter. Until very recently she worked for the National Trust (Not the National Front... as I overheard my late mother in law telling her neighbour). As a manager of one of their magnificent houses (Treasurers House in York) her job fell victim to the Covid enforced closures, this was further compounded by the fact that her home came with the job which meant she would lose that as well. Delighted to say she has just moved into a lovely old house (1632) by the river in the centre of York and starts a new job at the University (where she obtained her degree and her masters) next week. So I’ll drink to that... oh crap I can’t.. promised my wife I would do a dry January (why oh why did I agree to that one?)

Our good news is a grandson was born in August. Like Paul, we haven't been able to see him. Although he is in the same country, he is in another state and there have been hard border closures for most of the time.

Grandchildren are great, had my first (and thus far only) at just 47, shocked at the time but she is now 10 and utterly wonderful. Changed our lives in so many positive ways.

My eldest Zoe turned six on Christmas day. Needless to say she loves having double presents. I cannot believe that my little baby girl is now six and growing up way too fast for my liking. And my son Simon turned three in November. These two little folk have kept both myself and my wife entertained throughout the delightful lockdowns.

Grandchildren are great; especially when they're the fulfillment of the curse of all Jewish mothers.

Children can be a delight, and give a different perspective on some of the the things we worry about.
I hope you are all keeping well, and may you have much resilience as you cope with another hard lockdown.

100% agree. Our youngest daughter had her fourth birthday on the end of November. She was always our "little girl" but a few weeks ago she seems to have doubled her size over night. I don't want to miss the family life - it's so an enrichment, although some times you think it turns you insane . There is an old saying "Who don't have kids knows no sadness, who don't have kids knows no joy".

Great news Dave. I hope to hear from other pilots as they get their jabs. It will be good to see our bretheren getting sorted. Two of our friends on the Crescent had theirs yesterday. They are both just turned 80.

I came up with two innovative fixes for broken curtain rails just now, removing the need for some expensive replacements (or at least deferring the time until they are needed).

So after nearly nine years of study and practice, my eldest daughter is now a fully qualified lawyer.
She is working for Irwin Mitchell as an insolvency and bankruptcy specialist. Am one VERY proud dad. (maybe she can start paying back the bank of mum and dad, lol)

Congratulations! You just reminded me of the time a workmate and I had to tell another colleague (nice lad but not the brightest button in the box, ex-Coldtream Guards and a Geordie - so use the accent when thinking about this) that it was NOT a good idea to allow his Hungarian wife to call their expected daughter Putya, as their surname was D i c k i n s o n.

Meanwhile to all you fans of craft beer , heres an offering from Lydl in France. IPA, Red beer , which is a bitter as we know it and a stout , which tastes like Murphys. a 500ml for the princely sum of 99cents , thats less than a squid . reasons to be cheerful
