Thread: Valom Pups

    Default Valom Pups

Here’s my latest “project”. 4 Sopwith Pups. Left to right in the multiple picture; Lee 46 sq RFC, Stewart 54 sq RFC; Generic machine RNAS, Fall 3 sq RNAS.
They’re made from Valom kits. These use some tiny brass components. I found those totally impossible so eventually scratch built the pieces with spare plastic off all sorts of old kit sprues. (I throw nothing away.) In the end that wasn’t too difficult and I will use Valom kits again (they are cheap), but avoid the brass from the start. Unlike the brass the decals are superb and easy to use. I’m actually very pleased with the finished planes.

Nice job Mike, especially as you've scratch built elements of them. I haven't bought any because of the brass element.

Use plastic rod and keep the brass sheets as templates.

I totally concur with your evaluation Mike. Great kits, but for mine a lot of paper clips got recycled for undercart and struts. Decals are a sheer delight to apply.
You have made a cracking job of those aircraft.

Lovely. I despair of never receiving an official Ares release of such an important scout.
