Thread: What's on your December Workbench? 2020

Default What's on your December Workbench? 2020

I am surprised that no one has started this thread. I haven't been working on models, but using my computer to design some cards. I recently discovered, via the BGG website, the Dragons of War variant based on the novels of Naomi Novik. The creator made some dragon cards for three nations, but no backs to the cards. Here is my attempt for England, France and Spain.

Also, the different species of dragons have their own types of damage, plus the dragons are carrying Napoleonic era riflemen. Again the creator made damage decks, but no special backs. Here is what I came up with.

The flask for the Acid Damage is probably oversized, but I do like the Divine Wind symbol.
So how many books are in your personal library?

A second purpose: a minaret for Istanbul scenario?
PS. In fact there was aerial encounter over Istanbul by the end of WWI. A turkish pilot who - like they say - fended off some Entente fighter is a national hero. I saw an exhibition and pictures on that topic in Istanbul War Museum.

To be able to store them I'm just placing the wadding on the mesh, it pushes through and holds itself in place but I can't figure out a good, cheap and easy way to hold it off the table. The toilet roll cores work and the grey does blend quite well with the table mat but I would like something clearer so I don't have to photoshop it out.

I'm quite pleased with the way it looks when shopped but I wonder if anyone of you guys has done something similar or got a better idea to hold them up in the air.

I've tried the bomber pegs but can't figure out how to hold the mesh without it over balancing.

Any thoughts would be gratefully received.
    Cheers

    John,

Perhaps one idea: larger generic clear plexiglass bases and rod then use florist's wire to wrap around the top creating "tentacles" or "spokes of a wheel" to replace your mesh?

This is my dial a cloud system.

Using Keith's cloud bases you can set the base level on the white dial and cloud thickness, ie. ceiling on the black pointer. I used bomber pegs at first but when they became short in supply mine were re distributed to bombers. I then turned the rods you can see here to fit the perspex clouds that Keith makes and he kindly did me the smoked dark ones to simulate shadows on the ground. This demarks when an aircraft enters and leaves the cloud without any doubt about the exact position of the fluffy stuff. They are reversable as you see from my examples and break down for storage in one of my plastic boxes.

Here is the start of what I have done so far this month. A Voisin 8CA (cannon armed). This is RAF model with MISCMINI decals (as always). I know this might not be an actual camo scheme but it is something I came up with. The base if Vallejo orange brown. I thought the black and white looked like Tiger stripes so that is what I went with.

It was, and the Junkers company was way behind in it's ability to produce it's products.
It wouldn't have been a war-winner, but it and the Cl.I would have given Allied pilots pause.

Feel your pain Jager, Painting has slowed down greatly here. Now that winter is here and I can stop casting bullets in the garage I may get caught back up on painting. But then there is cleaning that 50 cal can of brass I was given by a customer this week (45 and 357 I can use but 600 44 Mag?? Maybe I should get a die and mold and reload them), planning next years garden, gathering seeds, and more house cleaning to add to the list.

Been a long year of painting and needed the rest, but back to the table.

    Very nice Clipper,

Now for something sort of different.

Was cleaning off my reloading bench and shelves and found some plaster buildings from about 10 to 15 years ago. Every year I was doing a few for the wife's Christmas village and never finished these.

    SO.......

We have the Four days of Christmas, Will try and finish one off each day till all four are done and if I can do it will post one for you guys a night.

    Here is the first

Can't remember the last time I painted anything aeronautical despite buying masses of AIM planes and MiscMini decals . Don't see this situation changing for the foreseeable now I have a 3D printer to learn how to play with.

Anyways, to show willing I'm posting a pic of a few figures just finished for Zona Alpha. I'm hoping to finish the Northag stuff in the background by New Year, but the management might have other ideas about that
