Default Near Miss by an Asteroid

An asteroid the size of a London bus missed the Earth by only 240 miles on Friday 13th November and it was not spotted until the following day!

Eh, leave it to the Daily Mail to hype things unnecessarily. No biggie.

Were it an American tabloid, though, it probably would have had Elvis driving the bus that the asteroid was carried in, or somesuch.

Being the "Daily Hate", I'm surprised they haven't blamed the asteroid on foreigners or other such groups.

This is why we need a robust space program. Imagine the potential savings in both lives and the environment if we could wrangle these things into holding orbits and strip-mine them up there rather than having to mine/quarry/etc all of our spacefaring supplies down here and truck 'em up there...
