Impressive. I bet the locals will be living on dead fish for weeks after that.
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
Lots of chat amongst my EOD friends on this, it will be interesting to see how big the crater is, and what damage was caused to the nearby structures
At least no one was hurt.

I heard about it on the radio news. It is good that precautions were taken so that nobody was hurt. I wonder whether there are any more of them.
That's a big bomb

Super water spout!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!

Thanks for the follow up on that. I guess being an underwater explosion would be much different then if it was on land. Still impressive.
An impressive detonation !

Late to to discussion, but yes, I was watching the event almost online. The engineers did their job very well and the explosion was - so to say controlled.
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
Not at all. They managed to "deflagrant" (right word?) part of the load of explosives (they said) and the explosion itself was not as big as it could have been. Good boys.

Oh good. so they did burn off some of the explosive. The news reports I read hadn't said they did, though they did say that was the plan.
Here's the best video of it I've found:

That's what they were trying to do when it went off Karl, according to the BBC link above.
"The deflagration process turned into detonation. The object can be considered neutralised, it will not pose any more threat to the Szczecin-Swinoujscie shipping channel," said Lt Cmdr Grzegorz Lewandowski, spokesman for the Polish Navy's 8th Coastal Defence Flotilla.
