Sure is a superb reconstruction William. Attention to detail is exceptional.
Well played sir, well played.

WOW Mike. That looks great. When I did that I just wanted a different pattern for one of the Avaitik's I did. Your rework looks great. Thanks
Mike, that is amazing! .... and you say you’re not an artist. I beg to differ!
Im very curious how you managed to do that.
Oops! I was looking for units to do a card, and discovered that the Austro-Hungarian Kaiserliche und Königliche Luftfahrtruppen did not use the 5 or 4 color German lozenge patterns, but a hexagonal pattern, with shifting colors. More playing with colors...
A plane with Jagdfliegerkompanie 54 (Flik 54J)?

I have found things like the below image on line:
Or for other patterns, like this:
I take the image into Adobe Illustrator, and copy the pattern in different layers and shapes. Then, I can copy the layers, change the fill colors at will (using images I place in other layers to copy the colors). This image shows the fuselage color pattern I attempted to match:
Then, I copy and paste the color pattern into a Photoshop aircraft work file, and mask out the line drawing to place the pattern in the right spot:
Oh! I use images like the below as guides to ensure some historical accuracy, and get the size of the pattern relatively correct on the plane (still attempting to match the painted plane for a copmromise end result):

A Friedrichshaffen FF33E, a Shapeways model by wow. I have had this model for quite some time and have been working on it slowly. It still needs a number of each side of the fuselage, and I have to paint the propeller if I can get the glue to hold the propeller in place. What I'm going to do with an airplane which has no guns is a dilemma, but I like the looks of it.
So how many books are in your personal library?
Nice plane! It is a tragedy, but you give it a photo-reccon mission, and perhaps an escort, and send it out to get shot down. It might survive?
PS: Why don't I have a card for this plane?
PPS: Steve [Guntruck] has one: Guntruck's Central Powers Card Album - FF33E

Journey's End. Kinda bittersweet after how long these babies have been in the building...
Photos taken in my gunsmith's shop just over three hours ago taking delivery of the green parts on the C8 and installing them before safety inspection.
Good looking stuff DB. Mine is just a plain one with iron sights. Used to that from my Army days.
Mike your work on the plane I painted is unreal. The Austrian D1' I have seen have big hexes rather then what the Germans had.
Thanks, Bob--after a little confidence-building introduction, the Eotech and laser come off (okay, get the batteries pulled since they're co-witness) and I'm gonna make her learn to shoot The Right Way with irons. (Ditto myself re the Aimpoint.)
Amazing stuff, Mike!
All that computery-stuff is way beyond me!

Nice plane, Robert!
I already have a couple of unarmed recon planes, and hope to add more (I have the models, just not the time to get to them right now).
Thing is, the opposing player doesn't need to know the plane is unarmed - he just might twig it when it consistently refuses to fire at him!

Thanks for the Rep. As far as that Corsair in the background. It is a bagged kit my brother did not want - probably the worst model product I've seen. Recall the scene in Apollo 13 where they had to construct the CO scrubber with whatever was on board - this build has the same feel - nothing really fits unless you make it. Still I am taking some photos and we will see how it turns out. I will be giving it to my step Grandson who is 8!
OK, I ain't dead yet (Glen C, True Grit)
Been busy this month with landscaping (urban defensive works), gardening (50 pints of green beans on the shelf on top of other stuff), Lead casting (about 4 thousand heads for 45 ACP, 30 Cal, 38/357, and 380 auto). Add in some basement pantry reorganization, a little armor work for a SCA fighting helm, and being best man at my buddies wedding (sending pic also). I did have time to paint a few items though.
Yeh, I am the one with the shield.
The detail work on that last pair of minis is outstanding. Lifelike, even!
What is the shield for Ken? Your Best Man speech can't have been all that bad.
Nice minis by the way.

Should they not be two meters apart and masked in that case Tim?

For this one occasion I chose to not mask up, did stay my distance from most of the guests though. I questioned the whole thing but he was my best man and asked so I was obligated to attend (would not have missed it anyway). To the best of my Knowledge no one was sick afterwards and after 6 months of no SCA events and missing Pennsic War for only the second year in over 30 I was itching to do an in garb event anyway...and the wife did some more hand woven trim for her garb just for the event. Was sort of nice after 6 months of self imposed lockdown but sadly just reinforced my buddies idea that this is all a hoax (had a aunt and my wife's co workers Husband who have had it so I think it is a real threat)
I know the feeling Ken. Our Regiment even had its annual social gathering "Picnic in the Park" cancelled. Quite a few members have set up their Living History tents and Kit in the Gardens of their houses and demonstrated it over the Garden fence or wall at safe distance to people passing by in the street.

That was the nice thing he did, the Groom, Best man, and the 2 Stepsons all got battle Ready blades that matched and matching double wrapped belts as gifts. So I got a NICE free sword out of the deal (again would not have missed it anyway). Just put it in the pile with the other dozen and a half or so. Add in the leather worker in me is repairing (and studying) the belt for future use. Seems they used less then secure parts and I KNOW I can fix it up so it is better and more secure (and a bit longer for the belt armor I have).
You really can't have too many swords, Ken

Never mind AK47’s, I always thought that field plate armour, long sword and shields was the best way to tackle a zombie hoard...

Have to agree on that, he has been my best friend since the early 80's and the best man at my wedding also. We also joined the SCA together and have camped together every year at Pennsic since the mid 80's. On top of untold hours at the shooting ranges, both having the same reloading set ups, and playing role playing games and war games together since then. Then we both trained in Heavy fighting and were in the same unit in the SCA together. Have drifted apart the last 10 years but still keep in contact.
But yeah, a nice party favor.
Why stick to medieval? If it stabs, hacks, or shoots I am fine with it. (can not afford the bigger stuff with armor)
Mine is vastly reduced Karl.
I now only have one long gun, one pistol, four swords, a
couple of knives and a bayonet. One Halberd, and one Partizan.
A far cry from the early days.

Cold Steel Walkabout walking stick/fighting cane
enough tactical-pen/flashlight shanks to hospitalize a small-town jail
and only one "able body" in a household of three to Hold The Line for everybody... two (well, one and a half) if my GF's visiting. Really gotta get plates and carriers...
And to our overseas friends, if you find yourselves in my area, get the paperwork in order and help out with the costs, I'm happy to check you out on all of it on the range given sufficient notice to arrange it. (Once I FIND a suitable local range, that is...)
DB, remind me: what is your job? It looks you rule a smaller African country with your arsenal
Historian, researcher, caregiver to two disgracefully-aging relatives... that list happened through many years of slow steady building (one gun per year except the M4/C8 set which were a year and a half from construction kickoff to completion, built side by side) plus an ability to powershop and wheel-and-deal that my girlfriend envies. Much penny-pinching and few other hobbies help a lot too--each rifle was about $1500 or less including optics. Also, consider that I'm former Executive Protection, with my ex's stalker ex still out there and me now being the only thing to stand between a bedridden parent and an ever-more-hostile world... if I have to be ready to be Gandalf at the Bridge, I want to make sure that I'm well equipped to face the most likely potential Baelrogs in numbers.
It's actually pretty small by Gun Culture standards, each meant for a specific purpose--my only pure "fun guns" when the conditions align to get them will be a Colt Buntline (Wyatt Earp replica) and a Tommy gun. Even the historical irons in my planned acquisitions are intended for educational use and to create a hands-on program if I can find a museum to host it someday.
