This is also a Windows 10 photo upload test after making the changes that Pete (Stumptonian) made in his profile to correct the double photo issue.

That is a nice photograph, Paul. Is it inside an actual aircraft or just a piece of film set?

Here are photos of the inside of a B-17 ,YANKEE LADY, I took years ago.

This is the real operational B-17 that was given the Memphis Belle paint scheme, and used in the movie. I was fortunate to be allowed to wander through it and take some pictures.

Very few people wanted to climb through the forward crew hatch. Most just climbed the ladder and looked inside.

Tight spaces everywhere, but then you get to the ball turret. Oh my goodness! Ball turret gunners had to have been really small people, and definitely not claustrophobic.

I'm glad they had the radio room canopy open so we could get a great view of the B-17's tail. Nice view to emphasize the importance of rear firing arcs.

Another cramped location was reserved for the tail gunner. It's helpful to see the windows that he'd be peering through trying to view oncoming enemy planes. Uncomfortable and difficult. Every time I climb through one of these machines, I gain more and more respect for all of the men and women who risked their lives, and who lost their lives in service to their countries.

They are truly amazing machines. I was fortunate to be able to fly in the Nine o' Nine before she crashed at the end of last year. My favorite view was from the bombardier position. I got sweaty palms imagining how terrifying it would be to see an FW-190 coming at you with cannon winking.

Great photos, thanks for sharing. I got to crawl through a B-17 at the Bar Harbor Airport ~15 years ago. I felt like a kid in a candy store and being the only one there. Unfortunately we were socked in so no flights went up that day.

Got to fly in Nine O' Nine in Sept 2000 (Portland, ME), was unbelievable experience. Was very saddened by the crash last year, especially if the same fellow I talked to was flying it. What a disaster.

That plane crashed about an hour away from me. I don’t know who owned the plane at the time you went up but the company who owned it when it crashed was found by the FAA to to have not kept up with maintenance which caused the crash and isn’t allowed to fly passengers anymore. It’s terrible that so many people were killed and injured not to mention the fact that a rare WW2 plane is no more.
