Does your computer count as your workbench? I came across my copy of Wings of Honor by James J. Sloan, Jr. and opened it randomly to the chapter on naval operations in 1918. There was a nice picture of a Naval air base L'bar Vrach, France with several Curtiss HS-1Ls. Daryl has a Shapeways model of the airplane and a top-down view of the airplane in his wiki, but no one has designed an airplane card or management card. Some hours later I present these.

Well folks I have another rehab project I just finished. Another 45-50 year old "out of Bob's storage box" 1/72 scale aircraft. A G4M1 Betty. Initially I thought that a little clean up was all that was required, but as I go into it there was a bit of work and scratch building that took place. If interested, the entire process can be viewed a www.theatomfurnace.blogspot.com.

Customization one was necessary to make the landing gear retractable. Back in the day my brother accomplished some amazing inginuity by "wiring" the gear doors to open and close; however, at some point the starboard gear broke and bob must have glued it to a pin he installed. My task was to figure a way to wire this gear to the pin to make it operate once again.

drilled holes for wire insertion then contorted a gauge 26 wire hoping to snap it in over the existing horizontal pin.

Techmod Decals were obtained, but after a little research I wanted to create the Admiral Yamamoto ship that was shot down as Operation Vengence, April 18, 1943. I had enough numbers but I had to cut them apart and place them individually - fiddly!

I was putting some dropper bottle turquoise onto the palette and the nose was clogged (somewhat common, usually just clear it with the hand drill) but this time the end was clogged and there must have been a pinhole on the side of the crust because it shot paint over two feet onto the wall Thankfully, the Hound's Tooth wasn't there at the time and it didn't hit other stuff I'd been working on

Thank you, Nuggets! There are more surprises in the pipeline. I blame @teaticket for getting me into this. Now remains the small problem of learning to play, but I have a buddy coming to visit this weekend (from our respective quarantine bubbles) and I'm sure we'll give it a try. Pretty sure he's a Cylon.

I don't know if you've seen this thread on custom bomber cards.

Although it is featuring WWII planes, the techniques are pretty much the same for all plane cards. This post was about how I do shading, if you are interested: Custom Bomber Cards - Discussions Post #18

Check Post #23, as well. For planes with multiple wings, or different levels, I use separate layers to control the shadows cast by upper wings or plane parts on lower parts. If you'd like examples, I could post something on the discussion thread.

Always good to see new cards and accessories for the game! I've been working with Mike (OldGuy59) on making the drawings easier to use for card artists, and we've come up with something with somewhat wider, darker lines and larger scale (e.g. 3200x2400). I can't post images that large on this site, though; and I don't want to back and regenerate 300 drawings (even if each of them only takes a few minutes), but let me make this offer public...

If anyone ever needs a drawingš of a plane that I've modeled in a larger scale or with stronger lines, let me know and I'll regenerate one and send it to you. I can make it any resolution -- it's just a matter of unpacking an archive, adjusting a few parameters, and pressing "Render Image".

š = an orthogonal top view, to be specific

Just attempted the HS-1L, and there isn't anything useful online for it,. This is one of the reasons cards don't get made by me. Thanks to Daryl for all the effort to provide good drawings.

Wife did exactly the same with her craft paints - the whole top popped out and shot paint about seven feet across the dining table - fortunately nothing that was not instantly washable was hit so no damage done.

Inspired by @malachi's wonderful damage card box, I ordered a couple of the Broken Token kits to build boxes for my dad and myself.

The Broken Token kits are laser cut, and arrive flat. First, a bit of stain:

I know, I know, not another old model rehab! Well, we all keep busy as best we can. My brother Bob and a Friend, Marc Miller, got together this past Saturday for a liitle flying and lunch. As you can see, in my garage "The Cave" the door is open and we are distanced. My brother's portable table is covered in my mats and we are ready to fly the OTT mission 3 scenario. I am the Central Powers with a DR1, Pfalz and Rumpler to try and take out Entente tanks, while Bob and Marc are going to attack my trenches. We ate and we flew and my trenches got taken out with regularity while my planes went down - Ugh. Even my Rumpler, after bombing one of the tanks couldn't survive as she caught fire on the way back to base.Click image for larger version.

Will, your projects are always a treat to read - especially now that I have a 22" monitor to view them on.

Looking forward to the finished product.

Im very happy to hear that Pete. I try to make the builds entertaining and with a bit of history thrown in. I hope you are okay out there. We are hearing horrible things about the fires out west.

Thanks, Will. It was touch and go on Thursday - we were packing bags in case the fires got closer.
We were just 3 miles from Level 1 "Get Ready" and 9 miles from Level 2 "Be Set to Leave"
Felt like Deja Vu of Baz in Australia last winter.

The weather changed drastically on Friday - no more high winds, and the temperature dropped from the 90s to the 60s.
So I think we are good now.
