Thread: DONCASTER 2021

    Default DONCASTER 2021

From here we will start planning for next year. I will contact the museum and book the rooms... are their any dates we should avoid? (I will check Duxford dates to ensure we don’t clash) Let me know ASAP please...

I assume Duxford will run the same weekend, so will try to bring our gathering forward to the previous weekend so as a starter for ten let me suggest the 10th, 11th and 12th of September 2021...

They haven't announced dates yet, but I wouldn't worry about a clash if you want to organise Doncaster around the usual dates.

is there a hotel connected to the centre?

    Yep - Premier Inn,
    Doncaster Central East
    Doncaster Leisure Park
    Doncaster
    DN4 7NW
    Tel: 0333 777 4648

The event takes place in a nearby aircraft museum - walking distance. Plenty of car parking at both venues.

There are quite a few inexpensive hotels within a few minutes, but the one Mike has mentioned above is the closest

Thanks for the information. I was booked in there but it sounded like there was a different one. Ah well, see you all next year

Ok been on to the museum this morning, they are trying to accommodate everyone that got cancelled this year, so at the risk of clashing with Duxford, I have booked 17th, 18th and 19th September 2021. I hope we don’t clash but the problem is that no matter when we hold it we will clash with something, so to that end I decided a fixed confirmed date was better than none, so sorted. I hope that this works for as many folk as possible and I sincerely apologise to anyone for whom it doesn’t....

All of this of course assumes that we have some form of normality by this time next year.

Great Chris - Shall have to remember to book the accommodation next month though as bookings in advance are only going as far as August 2021 at the moment. Just checked

Was really looking forward to your BSG games this year, so if I can pencil you in to do the same next year Tim, that would be brilliant. (Bloody pandemic better be over by then or the whole world will have gone stir crazy)

With all the various news stories and projections regarding vaccination in the UK I am quietly confident - so I've booked myself into our regular accommodation for the weekend of the 10th- 12th. fingers crossed

(I was prompted to think about it by Facebook reminding me that this was Beachhead weekend in the past and throwing up pictures and happy memories from a few years ago)

Need to know ASAP - lots of worn-out NHS Staff with leave carried over, looking to book escapes of various kinds.

As it stands we are down for 17/18 and 19 of September. I will try and contact Alan or Tracy and confirm this. Obviously the place isn’t open at the moment but hopefully someone will be about.

It would be great join Doncaster Event again. We're not as far with vaccination as UK, but September could be ok. Crossing fingers

Well, I'm feeling optimistic so I've booked a room in the Premier for myself and my ground crew. Hope to see you all there. Happy to put on a game, something a little Iberian perhaps?

I wouldn't worry about Spanish 'Flu, but it will be interesting to see what 'Patient Zero' brings with him this year to top Covid.

My own suggestion was, "Be careful not to draw the on fire card this year Kyte or we could all go up in one gigantic explosion!"
