Default Shapeways the Clipper Way Part 1

Greetings Skysters! This is my 8th year working with Shapeways products, things have changed over the years for the better, here's what the elves are up to these days. The world of 3D printing need not be as complex and confusing as some of us old guys would think. It all starts with a need for planes no longer available or never available for our game. If you have joined the site in the past 5 years you know the pain and frustration of finding that rare mini without having to remortgage the house, again! Imagine a squadron of Fokker EIII's or half a dozen DH-2's, ah the old days! But it can happen for you today through the magic of Shapeways!

Looks fun, but how $ and how do you do them? Let's dream on . . . .

The first step is going to their site and entering the name of the aircraft (or item) into the search box. Don't forget to add the scale (WWI is 1/144" scale, WWII is 1/200" scale)

Okay, now we have little images, I like to use the vendors from our group, Reduced Air Factory is excellent and often has pilots included in the plane!

The prices are incredible! Some vendors offer discounts when ordering sets so check out the fine details. Select, pay and send your order in! Did I mention they take PayPal? The 5 to 10 days waiting gives you time to read Part 2 . . .

Clipper, you continue to amaze! What a stable of Shapeways...
I have a few assembled and unassembled versions of D.VIIs stowed away for when my repainting skills are a little better.

It is amazing how fast the collection grows when your elves do them in multiples . . . these are from 4 years ago and does not include the WWII collection . . . What have we done@?!

What's worst is having as many planes, and not getting them painted

    Thumbs up

    Great post David!
I really added to my collection with Shapeways & sourced aircraft that were not available & many that had not been made by Nexus or Ares such as BE 2's, Vickers Gunbus, Sopwith Pup plus "proper" Sopwith Triplanes & DH-2s & H-P 100's, Halberstadt D 11's before they came into production.
