Thread: One more female pilot

    Default One more female pilot

Recently I explained the game to my 6-year old niece. From my tiny collection she picked the Fiat Cr42 ("This one looks nice!") and with a little help from me she managed to shoot down her father.
We had really a great time. I hope I can keep her interested in the game.

Obviously the vast majority of players are male. I wonder how the male/female-ratio of this forum looks like.

What about creating maneuver decks for pink unicorns in order to have more women join the club?

awesome! i find the "fun factor" of the game often attracts even non gamers, plus people not interested in historical games.

They have not tried flying pink unicorns in the Triplanes vs Monsters thread, yet, Fabrizio. However, congratulations on getting you niece interested.

Congratulations to your niece for her success - and for her good taste. An Italian biplane is a very classy choice.

We somehow hinted to ladies that the game could be for them too. We put a Sopwith Camel with big hearts on the upper wing not only on a card, but on the very cover of the very first box. We put Litvak's Yak 1 in the game even as a miniature.

We had a pink Spitfire as a card in "Wings of War", but in the end we did not dare to release a miniature for it.
    Yet.

Luckly ladies seems to have liked he game from the start:

Here a small gallery with a few of our lady players from all ages:

But the story I like most is the lady who beated her husband twice on a hospital bed, on a special pocket game he made for her, and then gave birth to their son just after:

There were theses World War 1 models ( two Fokker D.VII's and a Roland C.II) but they are out of stock everywhere now and unlikely to be re-issued for many years.

Thanks for your comments Andrea. I will refer to them when - after the Covid mess - I will dare propose the game to my coffee & croissant lady friends.
Age 50+ needs different arguments then age 6. I think the more colorful WWI version would be the easier bet though.

btw: There were also the 'night witches' in soviet air force. We would require the Polikarpov Po-2 biplane.

@David: Very cute colors indeed. If out of stock I will consider some paper model project.

Good job getting younger people into playing the game. This will also help them to want to understand history.

Looks like a new pick up line to meet ladies.

Something to keep in mind, as we consider history:

And somewhere out there, one of these is flying around, a custom paint job for a young female pilot:

Note: This was not painted by me, nor is it currently in my collection. I guess I'm not comfortable enough in my manhood, yet.

My daughter flies very occasionally - she's in her twenties now - this is the plane I did for her a SSW D.IV aka The Pink Panther...
