    Bit of Lace B-17 is a little less shiny, because of its damaged rudder and elevators during a mission to Kiel on 4th April, suffering serious flak damage in the tail. They may have been replaced with parts of another plane, like the upper part of the left wing.

    Gaining a few more MPH and miles of range with bare metal planes. Not quite daring/luring the Luftwaffe up against superior forces,
    but the Point Blank directive was clear that the Luftwaffe was to be destroyed on the ground, in the air, and on the production lines.

    i was referring more to the bold and colorful squadron markings then the bare metal of the removed od paint. not to mention the stepped up tempo and larger raids.
