Thread: TBM Avenger pics

    Default TBM Avenger pics

My warbird museum has been restoring this Avenger for the last few years. It's finally completed. It was supposed to have it's initial flight exhibition at this year's airshow, but the show was cancelled. And so the pictures are from the museum's photographers, and not taken by me.

    Nice pics Paul. Thanks.
The Avenger really epitomizes the Grumman Iron Works planes; tough, tough, and mean!
Would your museum be the Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum?

Nice shots. I have been lucky to see different one in the air. Way bigger then you think.

Yes it is. I've been a member for many years. I absolutely enjoy watching all of their restoration projects as they progress. Always nice to get up close and personal with a number of warbirds from many different countries. One of their current projects is a British Royal Navy Canberra. Valiant Air Command has recently become home to the only airworthy XP-82 twin Mustang too.

    v. nice pictures. Question: was there a machine gun fitted at the bottom underneath the turret pointing backwards? it's an image somewhere of the back of my mind

You are absolutely correct Iain, They had a rearward flex mount 0.30 cal (7.62mm) gun mounted underneath that the radio operator/bombardier could fire.
