Interesting article. Having read a few books about the Avro Arrow, this is a view from outside the usual core of Arrowheads, or partizan sources.
Canada's government made many decisions leading up to the demise of Avro Canada. Sadly, preventing the production of the Avro Jetliner in favour of "wartime production" of the CF-100 Canuck fighter left Avro Canada with nothing to fall back on with the cancellation of the Arrow.
The haunting referred to in the article remains. What could have been...

Good read - thanks for posting.

Shows you how stupid Diefenbaker was... turning down cash money for capital assets in favor of "making a statement" by turning them into scrapmetal. Still a sore subject with my GF's folks to this day... IMO, the USAF shoulda paid to develop out the hypersonic version, arranged joint dev/production with a US company and bought a bunch of these rather than MacNamara's Folly, possibly leasing Canadian bases for forward-deployment.
Like the F-12 interceptor Blackbird, woulda just needed an ASAT/ABM payload and sufficient deployed numbers to moot the ICBM threat...
