Tuesday night and a replay of the previous week’s battle of Tripods vs Triplanes is about to take place. The scenario is the same but we are using WWII planes. A Spitfire is paired with a Gloster Gladiator, Two Me 109’s are paired with Fiat Cr42’s. The biplanes will start half way down the gaming area to compensate for their lack of speed, the Martians have their recharge level and resistance doubled to compensate for the greater firepower of the WWII planes.
The Martians must either shoot down all the planes or exit the far side of the playing area with at least half their energy level intact. The planes must stop them….. What could go wrong!
The players :-
Martian – Biggles Downunder

RAF – Windy Jack
Luftwaffle 1 – Mark
Luftwaffle 2 – Baxter
As expected it became a game of avoiding collisions, and getting shots in at close range if possible. The Martians took several hits that limited their full capabilities and the Humans made a couple of maneuver errors that took both 109’s out of the game when they were needed most.
At one point we thought we could actually smell that horrible toxic smoke cloud the Martians were using but then realised that is was my dog Boston, who had bad flatulence. I am thinking he is a Border Collie/Martian cross. I think we all need a medal for surviving that part of the mission.
A well deserved victory for the Martian player who had no less than 5 planes after him at one time.
Photos to follow.
At one point Mark said how much he enjoyed playing the WWII planes in this and lamented that there were no bombers. I was wondering if Shapeways make this thing ……… ?
