Thank you for that article, Bill. I had heard of the Boys anti-tank rifle before. The article shows that it was not quite as useless as I had heard.
Ah, the good old 'Boys Own' as me and my pal refer to it.
Useful in the early days of the conflict but rendered useless by increasing armour thicknesses on the intended targets. These days we'd bolt on a scope & use it as in an anti-personnel role - we've done that in our games too !
I read an account some while ago of when it was used on Panzer II's - the squaddies were bewildered when nothing happened as they were sure they were hitting the target - they then found out they'd been issued training rounds, the bullet of which was aluminium...
AT rifles are interesting beasties, German & Russian forces also used them.

The A-T rifles make a heck of a sniper rifle too; just too much weight for the added range.
They could still break tracks of any tank, and do a number on halftracks and SP artillery.
But better options (bazooka; panzerfaust) came along.

They were compulsory in the WW2 Army Lists for the Western Desert which I used to buy my 8th Army and Afrika Korps 1/285 forces..............
When I bought the infantry figures from "Adler", I pointed out that they didn't offer AT Rifle figures - they promised to do some, but I've no idea whether they ever did.
