Never Knowingly Undergunned !!
Very nice Andy. Looks like these guys crossed a line somewhere.
Glory to the Emperor! Let the galaxy burn!!!!!
Great looking stuff so far this month. After a journey of 700 miles, even though NY is only 280 miles away, my Shapeways order arrived. Now to start working on them.

Had to repair one of my First Rates for Sails--somehow its storage box broke open in the back of the car and the foremast sheared off. Good thing I was able to round up all the cards etc., because we sent the Elephant to the Graveyard and took delivery of its replacement that afternoon...
Still on hold waiting for my pro gunsmith to be able to slap the green on the C8's furniture, but the His & Hers Set of rifles almost at journey's end:
Left to do:
- Refinish C8 grip, stock, recoil-pad and hadguard in Canadian green
- Purchase Aimpoint PRO optic for M4
- Build up load-bearing vests/war belts to carry magazines for both
- [expensive part] get girlfriend flown out here to install bolt carriers and check 'em out!
Looks wonderful to me! Looks like elves work to me
Well, maybe narrow to two or three... back before my hands failed me, I liked to have 2-3 things stacked up so that I could either "batch paint" common colors across all of them or once I hit a "must wait before I can do more" point on one could immediately switch to another.
I guess in a sense, I did batch paint. I went through and did all the canopies that needed painting. For some reason that is my least favorite thing about painting. Also drilling for pegs or steel balls on the AIM planes makes me nervous. Perhaps I could get elves for those tasks
In my last years as a modeler, I had to spend more time building jigs to guide my paintbrushes, drills etc. than building the planes, ships etc. those jigs went around.
And the scary part is I was only 30-35...
You're a genius! Have you ever thought about taking those ideas and tools and making them available (i.e. selling or donating to wounded vets or something) to other people who like painting, but struggle?
Problem is, each jig was built to a specific combination of task and model it was going around--mostly they were various combinations of popsicle sticks, square balsa and rubber bands, each disassembled as soon as its job was done and parts recycled to build the next.
Well, I've painted very little compared with the above astonishing work - beautiful it is guys , but here's an FE8 I have done, in a fight with a couple of Fokkers, a DI and a DII, that were done last month. The FE8 is Columbia Aerodrome, from Shapeways, currently at Ł6.60. Paints are from Masterkit - PC10 and CDL RFC/RAF. Decals, I've had for so long I can't remember, but I've purchased them from all sources when available. As you will see I need to get hold of some white number decals as I cannot do them myself. The "4" on the top plane is rather smaller than it should be 'cos I hand painted this one and didn't dare try to enlarge it any more. I'll change it sometime in the future.
The two Fokkers are from Daryl - Reduced Aircraft Factory - Paints Vallejo - sorry, cannot remember exactly which colours, but I tend to mix quitea lot anyway.
Nice work and a cool photo too.
Nicely staged photo there, and sharp paint jobs.
Cheers guys - used Windows Paint to remove stands. I enjoy doing that now. Its fun
Ye Gods Tim, you've been a very busy chap Nice work - good to see those Camels, although I suspect you've painted them as Fodder for your Fokker DVIIs
Lets hope they stay below 15,000 feet
Nice looking planes Tim.
Very nice garden works! Love the tiles. Thinking the elves need a new project . . .
Mike, are those 1 foot square tiles?
So how many books are in your personal library?
Two feet square, Robert, or thereabouts - a fraction under. Same ones I used in the "How To" thread , but without the MDF boards stuck underneath. No need for this lot.
Excellent stuff, there, Mike!
I look forward to seeing photos of the finished articles!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
It'll be towards the end of next month I think, Tim, unless it goes better than I anticipate.
Tim, those Belgium planes are amazing!

Nice work on the balloons and AA gun trucks. Adds to the game having things like that on the board.
