Does anyone have any good reference material for P40 E markings from 24th or 35th Pursuit Groups from December of 41 through the first three months of the war?
What I can find on the internet is incomplete and often contradictory.
Thanks!

Hey Dave. I've got something to scan for you...
Thanks Peter. It’s amazing how little information is out there on the markings for P40Es in these units. Maybe it’s because they didn’t last long. On Wings Pallet, you get one side view of a P40E from the 21st PS, but can’t tell what the marks were under the wings.
For a minute there, I was hoping that the tail markings followed by a “P” would indicate the squadron. That idea gets squashed by the first P40 on the second page. ”21/8P” is from the 33rd PS. I did catch from the text that the unit symbols were replaced by the tri-color star before the war started, so that was very helpful.
I did find the one known photo of a 17th PS P40E in the Air Force archives, but it is very dark, damaged, and only shows a partial starboard side view.
