Default Scenario 2: Operation Dynamo - “That inferno on May 23 was Boulogne 666Sqn.

“Hey Ray, what looks like a seagull but isn’t a seagull?”

“I don’t know Brian but I’m sure you’ll tell me”

“Yep, tally ho. Bandits 3 o’clock level. 2 each”

“Oh, crap. Here we go. Hope the pongo’s and the senior service appreciate this”.

The two Hurricanes hurtled through the Stuka formation firing at targets before climbing up and reversing direction to take them from behind.

Flt Lt Smyth’s Hurricane began to trail smoke!

A swift reverse and the two Hurricanes were hammering the Stukas.

The damage wasn’t one sided though.

One of the Stuka’s was badly hit, pilot wounded. Suddenly vertical dived dropping it’s bombs before levelling off and peeling away back to its base.

Brian got a good shot in on a Stuka and it started trailing smoke.

In the harbour troops were trying to get along the mole and onto either the destroyer of merchant ship waiting to take them off. Most headed for the destroyer, already under steam it was preparing to slip it’s mooring.

The Hurricanes kept hammering the lead Stuka’s but the rear Stuka swung in towards the others and got in a shot at Ray.

The Stuka formation turned for its bombing run. Ray and Brian turned with them firing as they went.

Rays Hurricane rolled over and went into a spiralling dive. He managed to get the canopy open and was thrown clear. As his chute opened he saw Brians Hurricane disappear in a ball of fire.

The 3 Stukas began their wailing dive, concentrating on the destroyer.

The destroyer was struck several times as the 3 Stukas unloaded all their bombs onto it. The destroyer heeled over and sank in the harbour. The Stukas, no bombs left, headed for home.

    The merchant slowly sailed away.

Nice rep, liked boats and mole. Very tough fight. Sorry for F/O Rengun

Stuka formation is deadly, when keeping it tight, many MGs firing. I have lost a Hurricane fighting them in this scenario as well..

Really tough break - I saw your earlier post about Stukas and was kinda prepared, but did not expect such a rout.

Poor Flying Officer Rengun never knew what hit him.
The fancy name card jinxed him, methinks ...

Still can't give you REP - not enough AARs to spread it around.

Perfectly written AAR - a lot of inspiration for me.
Now, from distance of few weeks, I am happy my ships were attacked by two pairs of Stukas, not one formation.

But it is obvious Germans fighters are still not available

I was thinking of adding 2 escorting 109s and a third hurricane but time was marching on.

SWMBO has claimed table back again today so tried to get a few in when I could.

Unescorted bombers can be sometimes in scenario, to have different situations. No problem Neil And it reflects reality.
"Looking forward" to missions with He-111 formations. Thinking to borrow one. Have only 2 and one in bad cammo..

I like to fly planes in formations as it looks cool and reflects reality as well. Same time it needs some effort for fighters . And luck of course.
My last Dover mission showed two different outcomes. Stuka triplet was eliminated by pair of Hurries, but pair of Dorniers defended one Hurricane. (I shall finally finish the Rep, not just talk of the mission) Major difference are however the chits taken (Luck factor)

If the lead Stuka didn't have evasion he would have been shot down. 2 on 2 might have turned out better.

Good effort Neil but lady luck wasn't singing Hail Britannia today.

This is what's so great about this game, you never know. The tight formation is a tough nut to crack as proven here.

My theory is Brian Rengun went down because you didn't touch up the edges of his Hurri. He was too easy to see.

Pete, my REP gun worked so I got him.
