Wing-tip skids!
The very narrow track of the landing gear, combined with the torque of the rotary engine and the lack of forward-and-downward visibility when landing, caused prototypes to be spun around on their wingtips and/or crashed when landing.
All Fokker Dr.1s had 'em (but not the three Fokker F.1s delivered to MvR, Voss and Wolff before the main production planes arrived at the front).
