All is said above. The good old design. Well, is there any other - but contemporary (modern) fighter plane (let's say: 50's - 2000's?) that could be a "Spitfire" of these days?
    Any thoughts? Voting/Poll maybe?

I mean: an eye-catching design, fast and maneouvrable, outmatching some opponents, possibly combat-tested.

Nice pic Steve, top trump !
P7350 (Mk IIa), 2nd up, is the oldest airworthy Spitfire in the world and the only Spitfire still flying to have actually fought in the Battle of Britain.

Probably poorly written, is it no longer the oldest airworthy Spitfire, still flying, to have fought in the Battle of Britain ?

Fantastic phots. As others I thought 2 Spitfires but then thought maybe 2 Spits, a Hurricane and a Mosquito with a Lancaster thrown in for good measure.

It's the oldest to have fought in the Battle, but not the oldest airworthy one.

They are both great planes. Some of the main reasons why the British and Americans were able to beat up on the Nazis.
