    Default Pathe film

    Greetings

I gather that WWI Pathe films have been organised by topic. Looking at one, at 2:46 minutes onwards a 2-seater that ended up on its nose in a field has its propeller replaced and is then flown out of the field. It looks like a Be-2 to me, without skids, but I could easily be wrong. Looks as if it is taken in England and possibly a trainer (as no camouflage or armament).

    Hope this is of interest.

Nice bit of footage Edward, like the floatplanes under tow too. Not sure what they are though.

Nice spot, Edward. I really like the static test run of the rotary engine early on in the video.

    Good find!

The nose-over plane is definitely a BE2c - a mid-production model ("new" style horizontal stabilisers, no skids, exhausts routed down below the fuselage and venting aft, no "cut-out" in upper wing) and has the pilot in the rear cockpit, as did all BE2cs.
The lack of armament and "camo" could equally be a front-line machine; early BE2s were all-over Clear Doped Linen, and armament was often not carried on recon machines.
The full range of markings visible on this one could be found on trainers or on front-line machines.
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
