Watched that Stark DVII go on Ebay. Was $116 USD or so at end. Not in my wheelhouse, not now, not ever. Picked up a Rahn DI for $37, that was about my ceiling.

Does Überboten mean "Way Overpriced" in German?

On a serious note, this shows that there is high demand for planes...Ares are you paying attention?

Unfortunately, it doesn't. But something like "this item is overpriced" would be nice^^
It means that the one who did the screenshot also bid on the item but was outbid. I think you were joking, or?

Is it though? I mean, yeah, I would buy DVIIs but only because they are the best planes in the game. I bought shapeways to have at least two of them. I also bought two shapeway modells so that I can paint one to be Max Immelmann. Other than that, I don't feel the desire to have more planes... but maybe I am in the minority

Short answer: I'm already thinking of joining Board Games Anonymous, plastic crack is another addition I can't afford.

Long answer: For me at least... Since Magic the Gathering, early Mage Knight, and Star Wars: X-Wing I am no longer very tempted by the constant need for the latest shiny (plastic crack). When I first got into this game I was just on my way out of Star Wars: X-Wing so I thought I would buy a few. I found I liked it and my wife preferred the history so I made a list of what I wanted and set out to get those. Far more than I originally planed; but I still self imposed a limit.

I have, in my opinion, a nice collection and think that some of the planes may never get to the table, so why buy more? I enjoy the game, and often use the same planes. Even if somehow this game suddenly was in production, gained popularity and people were clamoring to play I would still have more than I think I might ever use. Finally we have a wide selection of games that get played at our house. So as tempting as it is have a few of everything, I think at house we're fairly well set. About the only thing I really don't have but though of would be a couple of squadrons of planes of a specific type. There are a few reasons I would not go down this path. One being that I can't think of a time that we would use them over drawing the planes we already own.

So if it helps with the "guilt" I read a comparison of "hobby expense " once, bar tabs $100, golf fees $200, guns and ammo $400, cars $$$$, the list of my friend's hobbies far exceeded mine . . . the guilt vanished : )

Or you could become a historical reenactor; For AWI, a "cheap" militia kit (either side; just change out the cockade) can be had for $600-$800...more if you can't (or have a friend/spouse) sew.
An "elite" unit, say the 23rd Welch Fusiliers, cost over $3000 (plus sewing) 10 years ago. Not counting camp gear and such.

I saw an advertisement about selling de-armed Mig-21: a user asked how much it costs. The answer: "If you need to ask, you can't afford it!"

I guess David is really low cost player / engineer - a nice shiny kits from almost nothing. Congrats, David, you would survive even socialism with it's planned economy (no kidding, there were how to articles in kit builders magazines about mixing your own glue from toluen and rest of chemicals just because they were not available in shops) (yes, even in late '80)

    Don't.................

My 14th Century articulated plate armour + underlying maille, padding and Knight Hospitaller tabard cost me £1900, and I've only worn it once
I estimate I have kit totalling in excess of £12000 all in all, and I haven't attended an event in over 3 years.

Oh, I didn't want to go medieval in this discussion
I'm sure I spent nearly as much over the years for the SCA; a lot is gone now, as I sold the pavilion at a slight loss, and donated most of my hard kit to the group's Iron Key.
Still have my Norman helm in case I get back to fighting after retirement....whenever that will be. Plus an attic full of fabric, a few dozen weapons....

Well, those prices make me search for my sealed boxes and think to make some more money...
On the other hand, in December 2019 I sent one new foreign forumer (playing with his kids) "in need" one of my sealed Gotha bombers just as a welcome surprise. Nicely shoked he was, but that's how it all here goes.

Indeed. Clipper sent me a beautiful D.VII as a welcome gift and in 9 months I've fallen for 162 WGF and 29 WGS planes. I'm not sure how the story ends.

Yes, the ARES WGF releases are a 12 step program. 12 steps into submission! WGS is a whole different drug.

I have never spent that much on a single seater plane although I did spend $50 on a rare F-Toys Albatros once. I am thinking about getting some SM79's if ever they get released.

Hey Tim did you ever repaint one of your planes in those green and white colours?

That was me And it makes me realize what a great community this is and a great "thank you" to nightbomber...from time to time I remeber the day when the Gotha arrived and what big surprise it was (never thought I get a "childhood Christmas experience" with 40) . My son and I Play nearly every week (he loves the staaken...but he will lern that size is not everything).

I am still at the Point to convince my wife what a great place the living room were for a sideshow with the planes (right now they are all next to me at my "Homework" place in the cellar).

I think if the Obsession of WGF once caught you it is hard to let it go.....the thrill of the hunt for the needed planes is great. and the exitement when you found one every few month....worth case on eBay and you bit....get overbidden and Then think...a why havent bid some more....

My "hunt for the grail" at the Moment are the Airco DH.2....but i have time

Great timing, Andreas. I think the rest of us stopped even putting in bids as my max bid is less than half of what the last 3 D7's sold for. I stopped even watching ebay. Figured I would let it cool down for awhile. You just never know with eBay... timing, timing, timing.
