They are a challenge to fly against more nimble opponents, which is about just everyone of them.
yes they can certainly get away from you lol.
SPAD, SPAD, SPA...………... - oh, it's gone!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
So how many books are in your personal library?
Must admit I do not have ONE SPAD XIII in my collection!
Just did not appeal to me & there were not a lot used by the RAF.

Is that a Monty Python SPAM XIII ?
Flying a SPAD, IMO, is good practice for WGS. Fast planes, with nothing like WWI maneuverability.

This page lists the SPAD's used by the RFC: http://www.airhistory.org.uk/rfc/SPAD.html
23 Squadron flew SPAD XIII's.
A different drawing of the same plane.
A third version.
Another plane from the same squadron.
Yeah one of my favourite WW1 pilots Capt. Willie Fry flew a XIII in 23 Squadron as a Flight commander.
French camo as in the third example & with the letter L as ID.
Piloting a Spad XIII can be a real pleasure
Especially when you win almost every time against your friend and his Fokker D.VII even superbly repainted in the color of the Jasta 18 "Raben" !
I like the Spad XIII myself. That and the RAF SE5a. Both are real movers!
