Yes, they are a zoom, shoot, zoom, shoot, etc. type of airplane. I prefer ones a wee bit more manoeuvrable.

They are a challenge to fly against more nimble opponents, which is about just everyone of them.

    That was a casdn-grade groaner...

But yeah, basic tactics with a S.XIII are as simple as Boom, Zoom, Immelmann, Do It All Over Again.

Must admit I do not have ONE SPAD XIII in my collection!
Just did not appeal to me & there were not a lot used by the RAF.

Oh yes. He's gone silent as of late. Hope he's ok and just moved on.

Flying a SPAD, IMO, is good practice for WGS. Fast planes, with nothing like WWI maneuverability.

    Thumbs up

Yeah one of my favourite WW1 pilots Capt. Willie Fry flew a XIII in 23 Squadron as a Flight commander.
French camo as in the third example & with the letter L as ID.

Especially when you win almost every time against your friend and his Fokker D.VII even superbly repainted in the color of the Jasta 18 "Raben" !

I have 17 S.XIII and have hardly used them. I did fit one or two into the fading missions of The Bitter End.

The 7 S.VII have made it to the table occasionally, but not for a long while - probably Early Doors days.

I like the Spad XIII myself. That and the RAF SE5a. Both are real movers!
