Thread: March 14 AARP Wright Flight Takes the Skies

Default March 14 AARP Wright Flight Takes the Skies

The Wright Flight took another flight on Saturday March 14th. The game scenario was set up by Ray (GDog). In attendance was Ray (GDog), Jim (rhodie80), Bill (Old guy), Sean, Joe, Joe's son (whose name and cannot remember, my apologies), and myself Dan (camelbeagle).

Ray set up a Turkish front scenario where the British were dropping supplies to their surrounded soldiers. We had Turkish Fokker EIII vs. a mis-matched group of British planes. The British planes are all shapeways models that Ray has done a wonderful job painting up. The goal was to have three bombers drop their food loads so that the "food" card touched the target. The other sides goal was to shoot down the bombers.

First we have the British Planes:

Action got close and heavy. The fabric in the planes must of been extra flammable because we got a lot of planes catching on fire!!

A very fun game. We all had a great time. Thanks to Ray for setting up the scenario and supplying the planes. Unfortunately, we found out on Sunday that Epic Loot and Dragon's Guild Hall are shutting down because of recent events. We are unsure when The Wright Flight will fly again, but we will keep it posted.

    Thanks!!!!!!!!

I like your AAR. Can you tell us what British airplanes were flying?
So how many books are in your personal library?

Excellent showcase of some early war planes. I think the Maurice Farman is my favorite.

I will have to ask what models the Bombers where. I do not remember. The British scouts were two Martinsyde G.100 Elephants and a Martinsyde S.1.

They look like a Maurice Farman "Longhorn" and a "Shorthorn" and a Caudron G.3? or G.4?

Looks like a great bash Dan, having met & gamed with these chaps I expect it was a lot of fun & a well fought contest. Send my regards to all & thanks for documenting your meet.

Yes, Flying Helmut you are correct. Texted Ray and he told me a Caudron G.3, a Farman M.F.11 "Shorthorn", and a Maurice Farman M.F.7 "Longhorn".

Nice looking early war battle. Its quite a fun challenge to fly these once in a while instead of all the later fast and nimble planes.

The early planes definitely have their own challenges which make it fun!

An innovative scenario and a nicely told tale. The planes look great and show up well on the table cloth, thanks for the post.
    Cheers

Nice! It's especially fun to see the Farman Longhorn escape -- the most primitive one of the set. And my compliments to the painter.

Dan nice after action report, I was glad I went as it might be awhile before we take to the skies again.

GDog did a great job on the shapeways planes.
