Thread: LEGO my stands!

  1. #1

    Default LEGO my stands!

So I was dragged into a local mall LEGO Store by a little boy today and discovered a wall of custom parts, imagine a small round cylinder around a 1/4" dia and 3/8" tall, in CLEAR plastic! They looked quite like one of our altitude pegs. Got me wondering . . .

A bit of kit bashing . . . Sticky tack, base, flat LEGO bit . . . a tiny bit of glue or double sided tape, anchors the square to the base, another bit of tack in the end of the peg to attach mini . . .

Looks pretty good, stable, not quite equal in height to ours, between small and bomber size pegs . . .available by the bucketful at a LEGO store, $9 And they are available!

    That looks really interesting, Dave.

    I wonder ....

Would an Ares peg fit into the top Lego peg without too much work?

Try kit bashing the Ares peg into one of the LEGO pegs. Put male end on one to plug into base with no mod to base and a female end on another to accept a plane. Ya never know!

That is a good piece of inspiration, David.

If I remember correctly, the Litko bases have a slightly larger hole than the Ares ones. The Lego pegs may fit into them directly, or you could drill them out to the correct size.

    Ok...

Think I would limit my games to max. altitude level 4, before using such desperate measures...
    Voilà le soleil d'Austerlitz!

An very interesting idea. And I do have little people who have lego.

So a slight reaming with a #11 blade and an Ares peg will fit into the LEGO . . . works!

I have used LEGO parts as well... to hold Likto pegs (I think those were from Litko) in place while putting self-made clouds on top of them...
I honestly never thought of using LEGO as actual game parts. This thread amazes me!!

Just checked and see there is a LEGO store not far from me. It would be a good trip. Get some of these at the store then head to the casino and see how that works out.

Well, I honestly question their stability if you reach certain heights because 1x1x1, espacially the round ones, are not very stable iirc, I would prefer the "real" pegs. But if you would use 2x2x1 for bombers, they would stand the test of time! Unfortunately, the bomber pegs are more available^^
But this is a very good idea if you're running short of pegs, there is no question about it

A 1x1 round brick in clear and a 2x2 tile in dark tan. I know my Lego elements. For large bombers, you could use this:

Well there's some thinking outside the (ARES) box.

No stability issues, they actually snap together quite well, and they do not slip apart like ours do. I tried 15 in a stack and they are great!

Seems no different than a Revell or Airfix model. Specialized parts that can be used to build this model and nothing else. Not the LEGO way.
